Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Taking Leave

I have my baby next week, I want to take maternity leave.. I’m not sure how if I should use my PTO days or take the full maternity leave. I don’t want be stressed or out of the loop regarding VSP ( I did apply) .. will me taking leave now effect that? Could I be fired or laid off while on it. My 8 weeks will have me coming back around the first of September.!

Congratulations!! I’m on maternity leave right now and I cannot recommend enough for you to take the full leave Centene offers - short-term disability and the full caregiver leave directly after. Heads up that your first week of maternity leave is covered by PTO/vacation time. You deserve this time off with your baby, it’s one of the only silver linings in this situation. Being removed from this layoff stuff has been really good for my mental health and I hope the same for you :) you got this!

@OP CONGRATES !! THIS TIME IS SO SPECIAL AND CAN BE OVERWHELMING. TAKE YOUR TIME. YOU EARNED IT. TAKE YOUR PTO AND SICK AND THAN START CAREGIVER TIME. TAKE IT ALL. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING BEHIND. COME AUGUST AS SARAH SAID THEIR WILL BE FORCED LAYOFFS.

first congratulations!

second, I believe you can stack caregiver leave on top of maternity leave for 14 weeks paid at 100%. DO IT.

focus on you and your baby right now. I understand that the stress you’re feeling is overwhelming, but breathe.

you do not know if you will get laid off during your leave, but what you do know is your baby is arriving and you can take the time off to heal, recover and bond with your baby.

don’t let this bullsh-t take that away from you.

take the maternity leave. you deserve to be with your baby. do not let THIS take that time away, you won’t get it back.

I’m thinking the acceptance notification will be sent to our personal email, just like the confirmation email was.

wishing you a safe delivery and congrats!
