Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Benefits

since Leadership has seemed to have completely f*ck this up, what are some benefits you think would incentivize you to stay?

for me, it's the PTO policy. 18 days use it or lose it is ridiculous. and not getting another week until 8 YEARS of service?

how about 23 days to start, with flexibility to carry some time over. change the years of service requirement to earn an extra week.

and... as for the Directors and above not having a PTO bank? reel that in, 'cause my Director takes off a minimum of 8 WEEKS EVERY YEAR. clear abuse of the policy.

Whenever someone tries to diffuse the negative impact of something they've said or done with, "wasn't my intention", the backpedaling/self-deprecation in tone can often tend to come off as being inauthentic. It's like you're trying to shift accountability of your own actions onto some unseen "intention" that's out of your control. Just own your stuff.

Suddenly now with the responses you got, you're whining as if being victimized, when it's possible that you're just embarrassed that someone blew up your spot. Actually no one was accusing, they were just observing, connecting dots, and stating what they believe could be. Your responses have been quite telling, whether you realize it or not.

And what's with: "I get this rant about how I’m an executive trying to pose as an employee". No one categorized you specifically as being an "executive"...interesting that you felt the need to do that though, when differentiating yourself from the generic "leadership" label.

Whatever.
This situation is stressful for everyone, on that I'm sure we all can agree.

@am I didn’t mention it ‘cause I didn’t think it wasn’t relevant to the main point, which is changing the PTO policy.

out of left field I get this rant about how I’m an executive trying to pose as an employee, and now it’s suspicious that I stated I’m a LWCG employee after the fact??

c’mon… I get this su-ks for all of us and leadership is keeping us in the dark making things worse, but people need to reel it in.

@ap OP here, you’re right… I clearly upset some but that wasn’t my intention.

I applied for the VSP.

if it gets declined, I would like better benefits and for me, it is the PTO policy.

we know the workload WILL increase and with that, we deserve more time off.

I didn’t think posing the question would be triggering.

PTO benefits when people are working check to check, stressed and receiving inconsistent information about layoffs that affects their livelihood? This has to be a leadership post, PTO is the last topic anyone cares about right now. Is this a joke? I don’t think copilot would make that suggestion lmao

@ak

Why didn't you mention in your OP that you're a legacy WellCare employee, and refer to the PTO policy from back then as comparison?

Seems weird to have left that part out, while presenting yourself as just randomly pulling a possible potential PTO policy out of nowhere.

@aj you sound unhinged.

I’m a legacy WellCare employee and what I suggested for PTO was part of their benefit package before we were bought out by Centene.

a lot of WellCare employees LOST their allotment and tenure was not even considered.

You're definitely "leadership" here fishing for ideas of what sort of bait to dangle on a hook in front of "the little people", in your effort to move some of the masses of people who applied for the VSP over into the "changed their minds and are now staying" category.

You're in a panic, because otherwise the VSP payouts are going to cost the company so much more $ than what your group had originally assumed to budget for.

You let it slip that you're being a fake@ss infiltrator here in two instances, within one post.
Not very smart, are you?

1) "we all know discussions of how to retain employees due to this mess is already underway." ORLY? Because what I see on this board is discussions amongst those affected, regarding the VSP, its terms, how those terms have now changed, people who may be still on the fence, etc. Nobody who's a regular employee is discussing "how to retain employees due to this mess", because it's not their job to be concerned about that! Only "leadership" gives a fu*k about retaining employees, because if you lose every employee that applied for the VSP, your entire business would go under! It's really urgent and important for YOU to retain employees at this point, but the average joe worker isn't concerned about that.

2) You said, "I was simply trying to get us better benefits..." Again, this is something someone in a "leadership" position would be able to do. Average worker bees don't GET themselves and their coworkers benefits. They don't have that kind of pull. They might be polled on what they'd prefer to be presented with, but they aren't in a position of actively being able to GET those benefits going for themselves.

I can almost guarantee there will be more people without experience that are underperforming that stay. The overworked and experienced will leave. Then what, offer the overworked more PTO? What would make you stay?

Even if you stay, there is a hiring freeze and no promotions. More work, no title change, no bonus, no increase in pay with extra benefits? No, people want higher salaries and promotions to stay.

Recruiters are already reaching out to experienced employees by word of mouth. I don’t think people will have a hard time finding a job with rumors of layoffs and some companies looking to bring in experienced talent. Hold on and check you network. You may get lucky with an offer, this site has been forwarded to other companies that are looking for experienced employees.

@OP And not paying out PTO when we leave along with requiring us to be in our position for a year before we can apply to other spots in order to "earn our keep." I'm over all of it. I don't qualify for VSP but I'm already interviewing elsewhere.
