@cx this happens with indirects constantly especially during iPhone launches. They cancel the instore pick up because they have a customer that walked in or they have low stock of the phone being picked up. Nothing ever happens to the store or rep.

It is an absolute pain because the refund takes time and people don’t want to pay taxes twice.

Tbh there should be at least 1 rep in stores that only helps with issues and handling In store pick ups.

I honestly cannot fathom what a sales rep does anyway like most people already know what phone they want. It seems like the core of the job is to push perks, tablets/wearables etc and deal with device transfers/activations.

It seems like the people that walk into stores are just there because they don’t know how to do things, are too stupid/lazy to figure it out or have no clue what their passwords are. Sure there are times when you need to walk in due to immediately needing a phone but those can’t be too many. I’ll give the boomers and even Gen X a pass because of age. but if you are a millennial or younger and you are going to a store to buy because you can’t figure out how to transfer your data then I have nothing to say.

Apple has visual step by step guides. Most of the Major android manufacturers have step by step guides. Verizon it self has guides for every phone it is currently selling.

@d7 “code of conduct” 😂 yeah that is totally a thing with Verizon now. Verizon doesn’t care about employees. Telesales employees lie to customers and the reps in store have to deal with the cr-p.

Yes, that is exactly what a retail rep will do. Ignore the fact that they are paid a base salary to help customers with their service needs. Basically they function as coin operated reps.

Institutional cheating has destroyed that channel. It used to be a customer went to indirect to get truly fu---d. Now it's worse in retail.

Can't begin to tell you all my friends and family members that got sold ghost lines, hums, perks, device protection, 2nd numbers, jet packs, etc. that they dont even know they have. I would never tell anyone to visit a retail store!

All the charades to manipulate commissions, game KPIs, etc. Yet these clowns are showered with free pizzas, contests, accolades etc. Dont even start with their unethical egomaniac leaders. They are the worst.

thats a violation of code of conduct, ethics.

verizon would surely save lots of money by not doubling commissions payouts

if order was done by a telesales rep, they should ONLY get paid

@OP if you don’t pay the retail reps for in store pickup they will either cancel them or not fill them at all. This is the truth. Why would a rep want to go get something and then answer a million questions for the customer for free? Coming from someone that works in retail the in store pickups would be cancelled and then redone in store as regular orders. Is it right? No. Is it the truth? Yes. Would people get fired for it? Probably not.
