I've been with Fidelis for almost 15 years. Was offered VSP but didn't accept. I'm just going to ride this out and see what happens. I'll be giving my best 50% into my work until sh*t hits the fan for us. I do miss the old days though.
I knew when Centene bought out Fidelis in 2017, closing in 2018… that it wasn’t going to end well. A good company to work for the first 5 years or so, and then the snowball started rolling. Forcibly dragged from the FACETS to the AMISYS platform, then my mental health was just torn loose from me. I was terminated recently under the guise of one reason (which I call BS on), but it didn’t go unnoticed that it was a mere 2 weeks after applying to have an FMLA accommodation in place at the behest of my supervisor to “help protect your job insert my name here”. Well I see now, it was one of the stupidest decisions I ever made. Shortly after being let go, this news comes out!?! I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t have jumped on the VSP bandwagon faster than a John picking up a $2 ho---r walking the French quarter of New Orleans, but damn Centene… you couldn’t have given me a little more time to take a VSP? Oh well… jokes on you because I had a soft landing (full-time with a new employer on Monday after you’d cut me loose on a Friday), and my mental healths’ only hit now is dealing with life as a caregiver to my father with cancer & ALZ. The one thing I’m honestly pi---d about though, is losing my 5 weeks of PTO… as I don’t miss for one minute the he-l you put me thru daily for the last 2 1/2 years I was there (which I swore after working for a major bank during the housing crisis in 2008-09, that I’d never let myself feel that way again). So for now, life is good and you didn’t sink me like you thought you did.
@OP - well to be fair - Northwell's treatment costs range around 25% higher than regional averages so... there must be more to this story, eh ?
@c5 - I think that Fidelis Care " walked the walk " with service both to the member and to fellow employees . And yes .. it DID feel like a family. We also had better health insurance, better dental insurance, they werent threatening " ICHRA " to replace the employer health plan and you actually got the feeling that upper level management actually gave a cr-p about you... well because they DID. Run into em in the elevators in Queens and they remember your name in Buffalo when they come to visit ! You cant fake that with a bunch of slogans and mumbo jumbo themes like whats going on now.

@c5 I remember when there were annual Christmas parties in terrance on the park, everything felt heart warming and close like family when we were just “Fidelis Care”. Centene destroyed what was once an impactful, and nice company to work for.
@bp As a former Fidelis guy pre-Centene, I completely agree. It was a completely different culture back then. And I very much looked forward to the town hall meetings with Father Frawley and his team. They were always helpful and informative.

Is that why "leadership" had to backtrack and change the VSP policy, once they saw the deluge of numbers of people who applied for it? Suddenly the "leadership" tone changed from "take it or leave it" (where most people took the offer) to "hey wait a minute guys, we need to change things up a bit here...we need more time to process things."

This is not the same non for profit amazing plan that was once. What a shame to allow Centene to single-handedly destroy Fidelis Care. All of Mark Lanes hard work and dedication burned to the ground and that is why money is the root of all evil
Honestly, no one knows what leadership will do, and they hold all the cards. Speculating on every rumor isn't going to change the outcome. In the end, it boils down to two options: accept the Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) or risk an involuntary layoff. It’s a financial decision for the company, not a personal one. My best advice is to stop stressing over the noise and focus on preparing for whichever scenario comes your way.
