Has anyone else noticed that they are posting certain jobs as external only? Not allowing internal candidates to apply? I’ve also noticed that some of these external only jobs are remote, whereas all the jobs posted internally are hybrid at best. Anyone know what’s going on? What does this mean for career progression?

Verizon does not have career progression. They don't want you to progress. They don't want you to have a career here. Those days are long gone. They want you to put in a few years and move on. Anything they say about progression is utter BS. Ask yourself why Level Up only ever progressed 2 people out of 1000 per cycle. Because there ARE NO DOLLARS for progression. All of the DOLLARS are reserved for executive compensation/bonuses.

Yup it’s a common tactic at all large corporations. Financial analysts do a ton of research to determine the health of a company. Job postings fake or not pantomime growth to analysts doing a deep dive on a companies health. It’s not the whole picture but if there are no job postings it can be used as evidence that a company is not growing.
They are posting just for decoration and not hiring.
