Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Tool of the Board

I've always believed Dan was brought in to be the fall guy for what the board really wanted to do. At least from a reduction standpoint. I think the never ending focus on AI is more him than the board because he sees himself as a visionary. Or he wants to be seen/remembered as a visionary. That said, the one thing I heard consistently (in addition to being a hatchet man), was that Dan was not a fan of outsourcing, yet we continue to do it. Why?

So has he really changed his methods or is this more the board's decisions and he's just the face of it now...? Did AI make him do it?

AI is not replacing employees.
Executives are using AI as an excuse and massively hiring contractors in India or outsource it all together.
GNT, VCG, NRB, Engineering, FAST teams, finance, network engineering .... they want to move all roles to India ... because Americans are expensive for an American Company.

Those of us who are reading this ... > Companies will never stop using the offshoring tool. Please push Senators and Representatives to tax offshoring, impose taxes on outsourcing payments. Create incentives to hires in U.S and penalties to move work offshore.

@dm Fair enough but when Danny boy was appointed CEO, VZ had approx. 100k employees, not 120k. Then he laid off give or take 14k, right, but then VZ absorbed 12-14k with the Frontier merger.

Completely agree Dan was offered, and he accepted, to be the hatchet man. To bring headcount from 120+k down to less than -80k. If you listen to him there’s no way he’s a top level executive.
$50 the people running his ranch think he’s a city slicker.

He's always been a flu#er ...that is all. He never, anywhere had a vision. Just a bad actor, paid well.

He is a visionary as in having a vision to to make a lot of money for his second retirement

So supposedly is not a fan of outsourcing.. as a CEO he would certainly never lie, would he?

It all comes down to strategy. Have you seen anything that will increase customers and improve network? I haven't. He is an old retired guy who is completely out of sync with telecom industry trends relying on McKinsey to give him the strategy. He already failed. He only has a few monthly left.
