Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

Outsourced IT

Well folks, here we go again. More bad news from Estero. Entire IT functions being dismantled and outsourced to India. Last time this happened was a disaster.

Financial gymnastics continue to accelerate.

When is the next shoe dropping?

More IT layoffs today. Recently brought in a VP and promoted some people, then let go a bunch today. Q2 results and Q3 outlook is putting pressure.

@dt As one of those affected I appreciate your kind words. This is a horrible idea and so many end users were grateful to have internal IT return after COVID.

Some areas got their positions carried over to the new company but still need to apply. My area that covered 4 states will have no support. Not sure how that’s gonna work.

@bm Which field techs are working from home? Many of the ones I know are at different locations... maybe it's just the tech in your area. This is another loss and reminds me of the time Hertz outsourced IT during the mid 2010s.... The techs in my area were helpful and usually found a quick solution to our branch issues with the internet outages and many projects like stripe readers and the different cutovers. It's bad enough that no one likes to call India or use the archaic service now site to open a ticket much less follow up on tickets that we now lose the lifeline we had with IT who kept things simple and a dedicated tech, not someone in india who is remote anyways in addition to cooking and cleaning during a call.

Sad that even half of that workforce can't be kept as remote to smooth things over.

If the company is struggling that bad then Gilly and his team need to take a page from the Japan airlines playbook and cut their salary and cut back on their travel and d-mb visits but I'm sure they are sewing golden parachutes as we speak.

Field IT notified they are being fired in 2 months and outsourced. Last time this happened was an absolute disaster. With a $1 stock price today, Estero HQ will be more desperate than ever to shed everyone they can. Brace! Brace! Brace!

When will add none do something? There should be zero work from home positions when a company is struggling. Every position should be required to be present at a location daily. Directors, VPs, all c-suite.

They want positive results but instead of doing something about it, they sit in their comfy homes and talk in calls.

Your talking isn’t working. Get to work!
