Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

End of round 1 and beginning of round 2 …

There is some value (call it ‘date X’) for which if you reach it without getting the axe, you survived this round. Does anyone know what ‘date X’ is? If ‘date X’ is department-specific, what is the latest ‘date X’?

And how about the timing of the next round?

date X for Round 2 is May 19, 2023. Need all Round 2 selectees off the books by June 30, 2023.

There is still a lot of fat to trim lol. All of the G9s and above making more than $240K, with no impact to the bottom line and no direct accountability.... just passing the buck among the many layers of mismanagement. Many of them just trying to eek out a few more years.

@1rcb+1kxGybwV, great post. Very true words "You may love your work, but if it doesn't love you back, it's time to go." I never understood why Intel has been so proud of the phrase/book title "only the paranoid survive". Sounds like admission of an abusive workplace.

Round 1 is still on-going and will be until February or March at least.

Round 2 to start around April timeframe.

Additional rounds every 1 or 2 quarters until end of 2025 (at least).

The dates for round 1 are that you have to start your redeployment by Jan 31 and be terminated by March 31. The separation package says "Employees have a short transition period of 4-8 business days following notification before starting the Redeployment Period." That means all affected employees should be notified by January 25.

So many inflammatory posts that are either incorrect or not by Intel people. Even a little research about pension would be helpful prior to comments about it.

Frankly I think a person's best bet is to work on retooling themselves and looking around. I see little to any incentive to work your behind off just to 'survive'. You may love your work, but if it doesn't love you back, it's time to go.

In my group, the “volunteers” exit by mid month and the “involuntary” will be announced around then, so for this group if you make it past mid January you survived round 1.

Intel has no chance, stock will plunge as there are way to many people collecting their fat paycheck and pension while the empire burns.

If this is the best what we call layoffs then I'll be damm'd. The slobbers are still around earning fat pay

Round one is technically finished Jan 31 iirc.
Not sure if they decided the magnitude of round two yet
