Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Close the offices and work remote

I find it surprising that VZ hasn’t considered closing all of their corporate offices by now. Talk about huge savings! Why lay off people when you can shut down offices? That would save big money on building debt/rent, property taxes, electricity, upkeep, etc. isn’t this a no brainer? I wonder Why haven’t they pursued this option yet?

Reps huh? What call centers are they going to go to? There were home based agents long before COVID and more every year COVID just accellerated it.

This guy is like Wile E Coyote, he's a super genius. I'm amazed with such financial acumen that he's not a CFO somewhere.

Get ready for RTO 5 days a week like it was pre-pandemic.

I heard and IT office in NJ was shut down and probably offshored. This would likely save a bunch of money.

Didn't VZ literally sell Basking Ridge a few years ago?

People should either RTO or tender their resignation.

You have some operations where the teams need to be in the office - tax, finance, etc.
Then there are the execs that micro manage, and want to physically see their people.
But agreed, you really don't need alot of the real estate any longer.

As for @asn+, your gen z, liberal pea-brain mind wouldn't know up from down.

@asn it’s the young workers who won’t go back to the office or want jobs where they can work remote. Most vz offices are empty.

Leases are usually long-term for VZ building, 10+ years, with very high penalties for breaking the lease.

Old boomers who can't wrap their geriatric brains around remote work and egotistical executives will never let that happen.
