Thread regarding CDW layoffs

The People Spamming Are Cowards & Low IQ

They don't want to hear certain opinions that differ from their own.

They want to silence voices when CDW already does that in exchange for letting us keep our jobs.

Go ahead and copy and paste a long winded nonsense to ratio other coworkers opinions and thoughts. Maybe another poem about across the pond or about the winters in NY. Maybe spam with foreign languages posts.

Great people and culture.

Spew this to customers and see what happens.

YOU ALL SHOULD KNOW CUSTOMERS CAN VISIT & READ EVERYTHING ON THIS SITE AS WELL!!!

@m9
I like that attitude!
Work hard regardless of those around you or above you and keep that attitude and you'll do very well.

Customers notice your tone over the phone. Be honest and treat them how you'd want to be treated and just that will put you ahead of the competition.

My advice when you come in... besides the book of business management provides you...spend your 1st year finding and stockpiling accounts that have 500+ users and multiple locations. CDW's sweet spot is 250 and up but 100+ users can also add up in terms of total spend.

People doing well build books up to $10-15 million which will give you good annual $ (6 figures after tax). But keep driving above those numbers and you'll be in the top tier of sellers.

@kq I apologize and you must have been great for working that long. We can't wait to join you and help anyways I can. There is a ton I can learn from you being new to the company. We are coming in fast but truly need your guidance and support. Thank you for all you do for CDW. We can't wait to partner with you.

@m1 Oh no. Now a conspiracy theory? They are preventing you from wanting to post. They must be executives in disguise trying to stop us from posting. And yet you still will answer questions. When are tears and whining answers for anyone?

@ka Somehow I don't think my input would be welcome by this group which is fine. Some of these posters with little experience seem to have all the answers so go for it. CDW will do what it will do, fail or succeed, and there is not a lot I can do about it as I don't work there anymore. It's just strange to me that these posters want to derail a layoff site for people who really want or need to talk about layoffs. Why should these people even care? I will try to help people on this site who have questions/concerns about layoff issues in spite of all the noise. I just found it funny that this particular poster made a poor argument and did not even realize it.

I do more than my fair share. Actually more than my fair share. Please don't be one of the people assuming things as multitasking is part of my life.

Part of the reason why I've been successful for 26 years.
I push coworkers to be quicker so we can get more business done.

Because of the deadweight, people like myself have had to deal with decreasing comp and 40% decline in share value. Meanwhile no payouts for the people with the actual power to make positive changes.

@kj
Constructive?
Do you even know the ins and outs of the company?

Other than saying you will work hard and a bunch of hours, I haven't actually heard any real business strategy. Fire more deadbeats...cool. Change culture...that'll take years.

How will you fix AR/AP and Credit?

How will you fix Customer Relations?

How will you fix the speed in which SOW's are created and turned around?

How will you fix incorrect inventory feeds that customers view online?

There many more issues but I'd like to hear some of your ideas on fixing those issues.

@kj YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The "old timers" see exactly what we see. More layoffs are needed. Most of these employees that remain are SOFT and full of blame and excuses. Run them out Miss Leahy! Even if you lead well, you will fail with these guys.

@ke Only once. But our coworkers wouldn't be on here crying. We buckled down and looked into what we could all do better and what was broken and all did our part to succeed. There is a different coworker base and culture. If you have been at CDW for 26 years, I respect you and know you see that too. I am not saying some others don't share blame. I am saying everyone has their own areas to improve and all the coworkers want to do is whine here. If you are not overseas, the fact that you are not retired and on here during business hours shows it is time for you to retire because you could be using that time to improve yourself, team, and or company. That is the reality and the newbies seem to understand that. I welcome them with open arms. I bet they won't be posting when they start working. They will focus everything on their efforts.

@kf
I agree but the board hasn't held the main players accountable.

Our CEO is also part of the board so the board also has a part of the blame.

I'll keep plugging away but would like the same accountability placed on everyone.

Like many have mentioned...the people failing should all be pushed out regardless of title. We only should have winners here.

People have been slacking for far too long and accepting mediocrity.

Hoping things get better. Earnings in a few weeks.

@kd Just do YOUR job to the best of your ability and work extra hours to succeed and to help your fellow coworkers succeed. The focus and blame on the higher ups is inexcusable. They are monitored and held accountable by the board. I will focus on me and my team can do better every day. This is the simple formula of success. The ones in the warehouse are not to blame. They are performing from all that we have read. But if you are in a customer facing or revenue generating role, for every finger that is pointed to others, three point back at you. I will be in that role and will overcome the odds. Period and end of story. No matter the size of the challenge, I will work harder and more efficient every day and WIN! So keep posting about how hard it is and who is to blame. We don't live in that glass house.

Old timer?
When did CDW have mass layoffs other than under Miss Leahy.

I been around for 26 years and only saw a mass layoff in 2008 and that was less than 500 and that was it.

@ka
Would you fire Leahy and other C level and VP's.

The stock is down mostly from failed acquisitions.

Where does the buck stop? Warehouse workers? An AM with a $5 million book? Bid desk?

The worker ants don't really sway the stock like people assume.

Maybe reversing the bad decisions C level made would turn things around.

AR and AP are so bad I have customers complaining they never received invoices but AR is hounding them for payment.

Maybe actually send out invoices to the correct people once things ship. Customer aks me if the communication from AR is even legit since it's mostly coming from overseas now. They think they are getting phished.

Maybe positively reinforce the behavior you want instead of taking away.

Funny how none of our former C level had these issues as they made decisions to grow the company until our head legal took over the captions ship.

Seems like the new people like to swear and demean from what I'm seeing.

I'm on the partner side so I don't care either way but wow.

Swearing and demeaning is what will turn things around?

It's easier to work with other VAR's at this point.

CDW is greedy and wants more margin but most of the reps literally just take my quotes and add margin and then try to also bring in my competition then as me to shave more of my margin down.

Reading all these posts...I'm advising my customers and other industry partners to open up quotes to many of the smaller VARs that have respect for people.

@he Great point. Both are assumptions made by two posters. The point is that neither impact success. Do you have any solutions or recommendations to contribute? I hear these young kids coming in pushing hard work and team work while you current coworkers continue to focus on them and criticize. I am pulling for these new hires because they possess the same fire in the belly and goals than we did when we were part of the original coworkers that built CDW. Many of you posted about how much you adored our former CEO's. i knew and worked with them daily. They would have fired most of you that post on this site. They would not have put up with the complaints, finger pointing, and poor results.

Ask any of us old timers. They use to terminated entire groups and bring in new hungry coworkers to get the results they wanted. We are excited about what we are hearing from these new hires and welcome the new coworkers with open arms. They will help grow some of our retirement investments.

@hf Yet another employee that needs to go back to elementary school to learn how to form proper sentences. I would recommend taking a 2nd grade class to assist you with that area of opportunity. I am flabbergasted by the low level of quality of the current employees at CDW. Our promotions should come rather easily if these gentlemen are our competition. The skill set of these employees that we will soon be joining is astonishingly low. I am hoping that they do not assign us any of these kindergarten clowns to aide in our training. It is validation that our public schools and state universities are failing its students.

@eq Complains about someone making assumptions, then proceeds to make an argument based upon multiple assumptions using "I believe" and probably.

Post ID: @he+1kxb8aqq1

@ek I believe he is diversified based on his previous comments But the stock is a piece of his retirement and he probably remains focused on the performance of his entire portfolio, which includes CDW stock. And if that is faltering, he is going to speak out because he is dependent of the entire pie and will comment when one falters. I would too.

Assumptions, without data, only make one look bad.

@OP Hey buddy. You started all of this by posting " The People Spamming are Cowards & Low IQ"

Your subject line has major grammatical issues. Before commenting on someone's IQ, shouldn't you learn how to form proper sentences? It really reflects very poorly on you when you make those elementary mistakes.

Don't worry about that. Just do what you all said you will. My multiple CDW shares depend on it. I retired hoping to have a comfortable living. Go get them and ignore the neigh sayers. You all remind us old guys of what we used to be like when we worked there and were so successful. Grab the harness and kick a-s!

@ca I fu---d up and showed the offer to my friend who works in one of the offices but I have known him since grade school and won't tell anyone. He said we were offered much more base pay than what he was offered and that he wasn't offered the other financial perks a few years back . He understood and agreed with what I was given because I went to get my MBA and did an intern job at Dell while he didn't have any of that experience so he was good with it. He said the better talent is needed so he is good with it. He is like a brother to me and we tell each other everything. He did say that none of us should be on here talking about our offers because some people would be pi---d so shut the talk down and let them believe what ever they want.

@ca Don't waste your time. They will learn or offers and statements are all true and their conspiracies will fail. Don't let them divert you from our goals. Let's come in, kick a-s, and report any of these weaklings that aren't coming to work on time, leaving early, not performing, being unethical or making disparaging comments, and rid ourselves of these weaklings.

Remember that we owe our execs, former employees who have stock, and most of all, our customers. We made a promise to them so don't let these excuse makers and conspiracy makers to create a diversion. Focus on the three goals and drive these weaklings out from within.

Y'all quit whining and perform. Call us what ever you want but we want to hear solutions and how we can work together to rise the stock. Customers and retired employees are excited. Read the post. They are seeing change and a new energy while you guys sit around writing these useless posts and mentioning sh-t that won't improve our numbers. Customers want better service and our retirees want better stock numbers. Your conspiracies and imagination won't change that.

Not really much concern either way. The training program is a joke. 80%+ turnover within 3 yrs due to how bad it is. They had to guarantee payment because they can't teach the new ones to actually sell. They put the onus on tenured sellers to coach them instead of the trainers and their managers.

Honestly, looks like a typical online troll to me.
Could be a former coworker trying to cause issues. Could be a current coworker trying to cause issues. I don't actually believe for a second a new hire sales person is writing things like "We are here to replace you old complainers" as no real person talks like that or speaks for a "we" that does not exist.
Either way, they got others to take the bait and now we have distraction from the real discussions. So easy on this site to fake things just to enrage somebody. There are zero controls here.

You're right. All anyone has to do is Google "CDW layoff" and they can see this site and Reddit.

Wonder what customers think about all this infighting and drama.

A customer even posted on here with concern because their longtime solid AM was suddenly let go.

None of this looks good to customers and they can tell the difference between new hires and tenured.
