I am seeing First Line Supervisor lying about their move to Edmonton. They have already told their friends that they will not move. But, when talking to me, a subordinate, I am told how committed they are to move to Edmonton, and all the benefits of moving there. Looks like FLSs are allowed to lie without any consequence.

@OP it's because OP is not their "real" friends. As your coworkers I have no obligations to say anything to you.
@OP
What do you expect? IOL has royally sc--wed this up. It is obvious that people are buying time to move to an equal or better job. Who can blame them. It’s a persons life, it’s up to them to navigate the waters for their benefit. Lots of false positives out there at various levels. Bottom line no loyalty from IOl, no loyalty from employees! Seems fair.
It's not what you say that matters.
It's what you do.
They have time to look for a job before the move. I'm sure if they find something before they move, they will quit.
If they don't find anything, then they'll be off to Edmonton.
However, how long before another round of layoffs?
Perhaps a sale of IOL assets?
Either way, IOL will not be expanding in our lifetime.
I am hearing that there's a significant number of people who accepted the move on paper but have no intention of going to Edmonton, so it sounds like your supervisor is one of many. Sounds like some have accepted the move on paper so they can get a better job in the interim while they look externally and leave on their own terms. Sounds like some are hoping the timeline keeps getting pushed back further, or something else changes. Either way, lots of people seem to have accepted on paper but are not making any plans to move.
The company is doing what it thinks is best for the actual Management Committee in Houston (there is no real IOL MC anymore), and people are doing what's best for themselves.
