Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

SETH

Another shared energy town hall is coming up. Will they remotely mention the employee survey and how miserable everyone is right now?

@bz
The Chevron of your 40 year career is not the Chevron of today. The current company is more than 50% contractors and the days of the "Human Energy" employee are over. Working at Chevron now is a shadow of what it once was....

@bz. And by the way, Chevron was ranked as one of the top places to work in Houston by the Houston Chronicle’s annual newspaper survey rankings. Now there’s a reliable source! HAHAHAHAHA

Except for the recent spike due to the war, the stock has been essentially stagnant since 2022. Compare that to the average return of the S&P 500 which has doubled. Spike in 2022 was due to Ukraine war - before that not real movement since 2013. External events not internal strategy or success driving our stock. That is a massive opportunity cost associated with owning CVX stock and investing your 401k matches there. What a waste. Ask him questions about this. Ask him questions abut our strategy or lack of........ Really sad.

I just love all the negative comments here and on all these Chevron threads. Ha! Are there people unhappy here? Of course. But its that ways everywhere. People aren’t going to be happy no matter where they are at. They just like to bi--h and whine about stuff. I worked for Chevron for 40 years and it was a tremendous experience. Of course there were tough times and I was mad and sad at times, but overall the positive experiences greatly outweigh the negative ones. If you are so unhappy, get the he-l out. And by the way, Chevron was ranked as one of the top places to work in Houston by the Houston Chronicle’s annual newspaper survey rankings. Which, by the way, was based on input from actual Chevron employees filling out the survey.

The entire Q&A was carefully scripted. Every question had been prepared in advance and bulletproofed by his advisors to eliminate any surprises. Claiming that he had never seen the questions beforehand was the biggest lie of the event.

I really can't think of anything worthwhile for MW to talk about. He definitely won't say anything substantive about CES results. Employees certainly won't be better off due to anything he's likely to say or do. Just "use AI" and "the new organization is starting to gain traction" and other clichés. He should really just shut up and be invisible. That goes for the other executives as well.

Engine is great. Use AI. We need to do more to keep up with the competition.

Not a chance. They’re deliberately avoiding discussing the results at the enterprise level. The intent is to make this all seem like a team issue, and in no way acknowledge or accept responsibility for the cluster fu-k of systemic incompetence the reorg revealed. Gas lighting and corporate sociopathy on full display here.
