Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Layoff Boston

I'm trying to get a sense of whether layoffs are expected on July 16. Although I don't have any direct connections, I'm hoping someone here might have some knowledge or intuition to share. Are the Boston office and SMB products team likely to be affected?I trust people here As some people are always right …

@OP Yes. There is absolutely a layoff happening. Impacted leaders were already notified. The rest of the impacted employees will be informed Thursday. Anyone who downvotes this is delusional or pretending its not happening bc they are scared. I understand both. But it doesnt change anything unfortunately.

@OP a couple of days away. Either way what difference can it make by now? There is always a tomorrow...stop worrying

Confirmed facts:
{Method: SEC filings (8-K, DEF 14A, Form 4), company IR releases, state WARN databases, financial press, and crowd-sourced employee forum content (TheLayoff.com). Fact vs. speculation is explicitly flagged throughout}

Dan Schulman's SEC-filed pay: $1.5M base, 250% target bonus, plus equity worth up to ~$59.5M through 2027 — nearly all of it tied to VZ share performance.

Two more NJ layoff dates are locked in via WARN filing: August 7, 2026 (121–156 employees) and September 18, 2026 (35 employees), both Basking Ridge HQ.

Q1 2026 was genuinely strong (record EBITDA, first Q1 postpaid growth since 2013), yet VZ stock is down from its March high and was just booted from the Dow in favor of Alphabet (June 2026).

Q2 earnings land July 24, 2026 — the single best near-term fact-check on where this is heading.

Company messaging has visibly shifted from "targeted reallocation, not AI" (May 7 statement) to Schulman later publicly framing cuts as AI substitution — a documented inconsistency worth watching, not proof of intent either way.

Clearly labeled speculation (from TheLayoff.com):

A rumored CXO org reduction on July 16, 2026 — some posters cite cleared leadership calendars, others call it hype. No filing confirms it.

An unconfirmed "6,000 more cuts" rumor, a possible large outsourcing deal, and India-based wireless-core offshoring chatter — none corroborated by any primary source as of today.
