Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon pay cuts?

As we all know, the job market su-ks. If Verizon's objective is to get rid of the high paid workers, at some point will they just ask us to take a pay cut to keep our jobs. I know this will be an unpopular post, but its better to pay my bills at a lower salary than to get laid off and get nothing. Would you take say a 15% paycut?

Instead of offering a pay cut, since the new Level Up was introduced, a lot of the salary ranges top end got reduced, potentially putting you closer to the top of the range. This happened to me as I was only a couple of thousands away from the limit. Sh---y move on Verizon's part, which also flags me as someone who earns too much because of this.

I have a meeting this week to discuss this topic.
We will be discussing reducing pay to adjust for transportation costs as WFH rarely needs transportation for Verizon purposes.
We will also be discussing reducing or eliminating health insurance as Verizon doesn't compel WFH employees to expose themselves to the risks associated with leaving their homes.

Customer service representatives were getting paid for there commute into the office. There pay also reflected in office relations with others to get things done. Now that everyone jumped on the wfh status, there’s no reason Verizon should pay there employees the same.

@ac if you mean exec's bonuses, we know why it wasn't acted on and we also know it won't be acted on

This is why worker bees don't respect Verizon executives and mid management. Many actually hate their guts. Not a single person left believes Verizon has a promising future

The king is na--d

We already have taken pay cuts with this company. Raises have SU-KED for years, while inflation has been well above those sad raises.

How about they stop paying cr-ppy, failed executives MILLIONS of dollars instead of cutting wages and people that actually do work?

There is no reason for VZ to do that. They know people will not feel good about taking a cut even if they stay. It would a lot easier for VZ to let people go.

@a5 There is a good chance that bonuses will be reduced after this year. It was on the table this year but wasn’t acted on.

There’s no way they will do that. If anything they will mess up the bonuses or RSUs to effectively lower our pay.

If you are taking pay-cut, that means you are telling Verizon, if not employed by Verizon , I will be unemployed

I don't think it is a good idea, well, depends on how many years you have in VZ. Some people will find it more appealing to get the severance and find another job with that same pay cut.

No. I’m praying I get my severance Thursday. I’m over the business after two decades, a padded layoff would be the greatest freedom imaginable. Especially removing the constant fear of layoffs and crumbling culture.
