I’m expecting to be laid off this Thursday. My supervisor scheduled a 1:1 for the exact time and dates the expected layoffs are estimated to take place. I don’t know how to feel about this, but now gotta face the next 4 days with this information looming over me. I wish they’d just rip the bandage off and do it today. Anyone else in this boat?

Never under any circumstances will this meeting be scheduled three days in advance. You are either intentionally misreading an unrelated invite or you are just on here seeking attention.
@b4 for me the question would be does the official last day count towards tenure? Or is it the day you’re told? That could be the difference between less than half a year and over a half a year towards the next service anniversary date for rounding
@a5 Why use your PTO or sick days when they will pay you off as part of the package tho?
Mine was done by my Director at the end of last year. It was 11/20 and I got a last minute invite from them. I knew as soon as it popped in, I was doomed and started saying goodbyes.
I got similar situation back in May when my manager scheduled 1:1 on Thursday morning sending invite on Monday.
Enjoy your severance package and unemployment checks for the next 6 months. Decompress & detox.
Feel relieved…at least you will have certainty
@ac although that would be a kick in the teeth, “you’re considered leading for your performance review, but bye”
the interview will set up at the day of lay off. This is a different event.
Just ask them what the meeting is about now?
I’ve seen people just getting a call from their manager the day of, no invites
@OP mid year reviews 1:1 just started today.....why panic? Layoffs do not get scheduled by your manager days in advance, it is a quick invite the same day
@OP So your mid year is scheduled for Thursday. Got it.
@OP Use your personal days and get busy applying for jobs. I promise you that taking action feels much better than sitting around worrying. Good luck!
If you want to find out ahead of time, just ask your manager directly if you are getting laid off. See how they react. That may tell you everything you need to know.
@a7 I wasn’t sure if any of it gets paid out if it’s unused. But that does change the calculus if it does…
@a5 Don't use your PTO, let them pay that out! Just use your sick days and personal time that doesn't bank
The intern summer projects are still not finished yet. This is just clickbait
@OP same thing happened to me in November, I don’t do a stitch of work this week. In fact use your pto or sick days. You don’t owe this company sh-t.
@a1 yup, probably not related.
@OP my understanding is that the meetings are scheduled morning of. May not actually be related
