I've seen so many formerly dedicated people just doing the bare minimum now. What was the breaking point?

That's what happens when you are no longer afraid to Fail... as Brene says.. no need to try anymore, because failure is fine.
Was employed there for 5 years, hit all of my KPIS / metrics scored great on reviews and was hit by a rif while team members who slacked are still there and continue to do the bare minimum. Place is a he-l hole
Race to mediocracy fren.. I am with Big Red, but looking for post-retirement ops in areas that I want to be in. Too bad, so sad it's the same everywhere.. "unhappy lol"
@aa or like Chris Stansbury, with a cushy 9news story about his 13 mil Cherry Hills house up for sale a few years ago. To be clear, I’m not an “eat the rich, evil capitalists” person, but I am anti-crony, anti-overseeing the downfall of a company while you rake in millions. These are unimpressive people who’ve accomplished Jack sh-t, that’s the problem. Glen Post could buy and sell people like Chris, yet you’d never have known it. And unlike C levels like Chris, he actually built and accomplished something versus manage a decline

Agreed on everything. Add in absolutely nothing for retiring. Not a party as in the past. No gift out of a catalog. No watches, rings or gift cards. No plaque or even a postcard thanking you for half your life worth of service to a company.
My retirement was clean your truck in the morning then turn in your badge, keys, phone and tools/meters. Quick truck inspection and a handshake before the gate closed behind me.
I knew this is how it’d be since previous co workers had retired. No respect or gratitude. To the OP….when you realize the company thinks nothing of you while you’re there and even less of you when you retire there’s no reason to care or try anymore. We were all just a number on a spreadsheet.
Keep it classy Lumen. As always, you are back to your old ways! Rinse and repeat...
classic top-heavy leadership ilec cannibalizing its own employees. A reckoning and blessing for competitors. Join us, we are here.. watching & waiting.
When executive leadership started pushing DEI and Dare To Lead, I knew then we were doomed. That culture ruined what was left of a conglomerate of various legacy companies. Organizations were dismantled. Great teams that accomplished great tasks, were decimated. This is what we are left with. Their personalities and their cultures ruined this company.
Since hard work will neither save you from layoffs nor get anything but "meets expectations" on their stupid reviews, what would be the point in doing anything but the bare minimum? Seen anyone get promoted? I couldn't even get an interview when I applied internally. Hard work is punished with more work, but there are ZERO rewards
I lost my give a damn years before I left ... the company squandered talented adn experienced people ... while promoting the cheap and unskilled newbies who didn't know what they didn't know but talked like they would guild us to the golden lands. I was given what could be called ageism assignments .. apparently to incentivize me to quit or take any VSP offered. I got tired of doing 'bridge to nowhere' assignments and working for unethical kiss butt managers who laughed when they knew you were getting a horrible re assignment. It finally worked and I left ... and hopefully saved a couple jobs for someone younger, but the company has been on unattended cruise control to the sun since the early 2000's and got worse with every merger.
You obviously do not work in the company. 1. they removed anniversary money and gifts, so much for celebrating a milestone on the company $. 2. they created secondary lower paid titles. 3. we are not selling anything of value and we have no idea what we would be selling, since there will be no consumer base. how many commercials of Lumen services have you seen? How many are still going door to door trying to connect (now) copper? 4. Enforcing ridiculous metrics and monitoring technicians as if they were tools and not humans. 5. I could go on, but look at the headcount drop in the last 4 years. almost 1000 dropped per year. So far, 700+ this year after they went for the east coast support groups. No raises was mentioned and yes that factors into the overall picture. Go beyond and make an impression that does nothing if you are tapped to leave and does nothing for the value of the employee base.
Worshiping the false god of metrics. If all they care about is metrics, fine. One can make metrics look great while doing little or no "real" work, just menial tasks. And noone seems to care. Again as long as we are meeting metrics nothing else matters including angry customers.
Easy, zero pay increases over the past 13 years while more VPs get hired and their compensations are continually bloated. After all, they have to be paid well to post photos on vacations in exotic places with their families to show everyone how much the "care"
