Insider here , The elevator gives automatic preference to groups of 5 or more
So I can hit the button a bunch to trick the elevator that there are a lot of people waiting and get a ride to myself straight down? Score!

Did they put in the "destination dispatch" system?
I hate the new elevator system. It su-ks! Much longer wait times. You get on and doesn’t go to the right place!
If you press it once, the stupid thing shows up full thinking you will fit. So hit it a lot.
The problem is you need to wait 10 seconds between pressing the darn button
