Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

why lay offs and cost cutting measures when we have record quarters over and over?

Is gramma Abby trying to protect the company and workers from something the billionaire class knows and we don't? What serious rational reasons are there? Not discrediting the angry mobs complaining billionaires are doing billionaire things trying to make more money, but we discussed that in other threads and I feel like things are different. Something longer term is afoot?

Probably pressure from other angles…keep people down and in predictable patterns…when people are inspired and empowered, it’s not great for capitalism.

You stay a billionaire by continuing your cash flow. This company has grown a lot over the last 5 years and they expect that growth to continue. More employees means more money towards pay and benefits. They can free some of that up by getting rid of tenured people.
In the articles about the layoff the Fidelity spokesperson stated they want early career employees aka cheap labor.
