I'm not in retail, but I see the job postings and every day there's 10+ postings with retail in the title. What is all the retail hiring if people are talking about massive retail layoff and store closures?

We remained hiring in December.. In fact, last round an employee hired in November was RIF’d in December.
Imagine being hired into corporate and 1 month later your store gets sold off to an agent. Sheeeshhhhhhhhhh
Some stores who were in the process of hiring got put on hold. Seeing it first hand.
I see alot of retail rep positions, but not alot, or any retail assistant manager positions....hmmmm
Just seems like a LOT of open retail positions currently
