Debt is only one part of a balance sheet. Investors also look at cash flow, profitability, liquidity, and why the debt was incurred. IBM has used debt to fund strategic acquisitions and invest in future growth.

Good financial analysis requires more than posting one number and declaring a crisis. Context matters.
