Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Town Hall

“We can simplify things with information.

We have a lot of information.

You have to have the right information at the right time to make the right decisions.

With the right decisions we get the right outcomes.”

This will get you 5mil per year.

@gc The old town hall ended when we stopped going to the Hilton to hear specifics, loss ratio, stock history for the prior quarter to date, etc. etc. Since they drag us downtown you think they would make us go somewhere to hear them explain themselves. Those days are long gone and filled with buzz words, BS, and blame via Zoom. The company that hired you 15 plus years ago is gone. The transparency of Larry Glasscock ended with him. The reputation of this company will never recover

@dr “4000 promotions”. Not only offshore but let’s talk about the number of RIFs

@an And laugh about it as soon as the cameras are off.

Embarrassing.

I miss the old style Town Halls where they shared the business results presented on the earnings calls but with more internal context.

@dr Does it count as promotion when you purposely riffed people with expertise only to fill it with cheaper staff? Yeah you may have moved a lower paid person up to another level but in the end still lower paid. Not buying what this guy is selling at all. Show us the data. You can make up any metric you want doesn’t make it true.

Listening to that Town Hall felt like they think we’re all id--ts and have to patronize us like children with their hidden messages and platitudes or they’re so simply out of touch with reality. I’m not trying to be mean, but if you’re wearing a pink suit from the 80s it says to me you’re not listening to somebody that says you need to modernize and update.

“4000 promotions” - how many of the promotions were of folks not working in the United States?

@be waste of time? No way! It’s unintentional comedy gold! The best part is that they actually believe they’re crushing it!

Did anyone else laugh through the whole thing? They all tried to sound inspiring but they all came off sounding phoney.

Why don't they review the financial results anymore? Why tell us the reaction from our results without telling us what you told them? That was always the most informative part of the town hall. Now it's a waste of everyone's time.

@aq Agree with you. Constant RIFs and Reorgs will always lead to distrust, which then causes employees to not want to knowledge transfer (share) and also leads to more silos, not less.

Corporations and leaders want to have their cake and eat it too. Employees want to survive, be able to pay their bills, continue to have safe shelter, and be able to continue feeding their families.

Opening with a fluffy human story. Then word salad about nothing. Same old change management speech and basically stop doing stuff AI can do. We are working to replace the report associates so managers you don’t need a ton of dashboards is what I heard. And oh yes we are all people leaders. Same ole corporate kool aid. I consulted for some large companies on how to reduce silos and the answer is what they never want to hear; money and trust amongst employees. It’s difficult to do these things when you are in a constant state of layoffs and reorgs.

@an Why put in the effort to say something meaningful when you can be paid millions for stringing together platitudes and empty buzzwords? If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bs!

Listening to the leaders of these town halls is anything but inspiring. Are they intellectually capable of speaking without spewing trite buzzwords? It’s almost as though they compete to see who can be the emptiest bore in the room.

It’s so funny how HR guy thinks his survey results mean anything. Show us the data Craig I don’t believe a word you are saying about new roles and promotions. This is because you riffed people that knew sh-t then you had to post the job later and filled it with people who were in lower levels that never should have been promoted anyway.

Silos are never going away. When you do as many org changes as much as this company has they don’t realize that silos become important to try and keep your job. Silos will just keep creating themselves as a form of self preservation. How d-mb is this group of “leaders”.

Too bad we are trying to do all this improvement but members and providers have to deal with people who can’t speak English or hear roosters in the background when they call to get help when stupid AI chatbots can’t answer your question. So much for easy to navigate.

These people are an absolute joke. Ryan Craig is essentially an AI Chatbot put into an human. Rat is destroying our company. Many worthless executives wearing fancy designer shoes in a side studio is not what people want to hear from right now as our jobs are outsourced and cut ‘due to AI’.
