Product managers and product mindset BS

What exactly does this role entail, and what product are we working with? It looks like a glorified Scrum Master position, and most of the people in it are G8s. I'm not sure how sustainable this setup is long-term. What began as a pragmatic shift to stop engineering teams from building things nobody wanted has devolved into a massive, heavily certificated industry of performative bureaucracy.
More than 95% of product managers are not required .We have projects ,We dont have products .In tech there are no products. There are product managers even in data teams .Thats level of insanity this so called "product mindset" BS has reached

There are too many product managers who handle extremely small functionality like a part of page in fid.com/mbile or a small process /utility

Let’s be honest about what modern product squads have become: PMs and Squad Leads are just human toll booths. They charge a massive premium in time and salary just to pass information along, and their main contribution to the engineering lifecycle is acting as a highly certified bottleneck.

@ae how did things ever get this bad? when i heard some exec gleefully announce that we were down to only 1M secrets in code I started questioning whether fidelity was a real company or not. (it isn't)

i really wish jira and confluence didn't exist. they just get in the way. most people spend more time writing bs on jira and confluence "analysis documents" than just fu--ing writing the damn code

Tech teams support business units that have products, fool. And there are tech teams that support the infrastructure required to support the products that those tech teams support. If there are only 'projects' what the he-l are those projects for? What the he-l. Do you work for Boston dev ops? Or are you one of the h1b's with a phony resume?

Anyone who thinks a scrum master role = product manager doesn't have a clue what they are talking about. Go work at Walmart

The way you write I can tell you are a lvl 4 FOB contractor that leaves secrets in code. Go tap away on a YAML file and stay in your lane. You are clueless.
