Ages of the people I know who were laid off today. Why am I not even surprised?

I mean, late 50s and 60s for sure you should be ready to retire and you get a little severance bonus.
If your whole god damn team is over 40 you can’t cry that “they targeted older workers”
Now, if you really want to process this in the proper light, they hired a 67 year old has-been to be CEO.
Think a 67 year old would have a chance getting hired anywhere else in the company?
and paid top dollar for their "experience"?
@aj you’re in shock now. Please process what happened and start looking for a job. This company is sinking faster than The Titanic. I’m sorry.
I don’t really know too many 20-year-olds in the field really. I don’t know anything about like retail stuff but engineers and operations are mostly older folks so that’s where layoffs naturally will fall.
Your managet may be younger than you. They see you as over paid individual.
From Verizon perspective, someone working for one company that long is considered someone useless as the person has no passion to move around to develop the career. Do not joke with loyalty. You know there is no such a thing...gather yourself...good luck..
@aj what group are you in? I thought mostly retail and sale ops got cut? Your network assurance?
I'm 59, they RIFd me. How could this do this to me? I worked for Verizon for over 25 years. I climbed poles for them and flew to multiple states covering for strike duty. It was a dangerous job too, credit to our union techs. Did they forget I kept the network going during the union strikes? Do they care about Employee Loyalty? I'm in shock right now and devastated.
Don't forget white males.
@a7 Very sorry to learn this, and thanks for sharing what you're seeing.
Late 40s and RIF'ed
@OP Pretty d-mb statement if you ask me.
Well I’m only 28 and my 22 25 27 and 34 year old co workers were also cut so the age thing is reaching
@a4 Hilarious 😂
Late 40’s here. 20 years

Oh stop this nonsense. There are a lot of old ppl that don't anything. Just do bare minimum. You create a problem for yourselves.
In relation to what ages that didn’t get cut? Give context. How large was the team, were these the only 3 let go from the team?
