Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

How Is This Fair - TIS Leadership?

Can we talk about this? Because I'm struggling to see how this is fair.

INC USUI team, has money for lavish dinners, unlimited upscale travel, "collecting points," cruise dinners, events... you name it. But somehow when it comes to their own TIS USUI counterparts? Layoffs.

Some people got told their roles "weren't sustainable." Weren't sustainable, but the boat outings were?
Make it make sense...........
If there's money for unlimited daily fine dining and over spend, there is money to keep people employed. Let's stop pretending this is about resources. It's about priorities. And right now, the people actually doing the work are not the priority.
You don't get to blow money left and right and then turn around and lay people off like it's a budget issue. That's not leadership. That's a failure of judgment, plain and simple. Shame on your leadership.
To everyone who got impacted, this is not on you. This says nothing about your worth or your work. You deserved so much better than this.

@e6 if you add value, they will keep you. If you don’t, then that’s on you. Dinner has nothing to do with it. You just need to su-k up to the right people and keep your opinions to yourself.

@fa Rest of the TIS crew gets told to keep meetings virtual to save costs, meanwhile some folks are out here travelling like it's no big deal. Like, are they even part of the same TIS or nah? Doesn't add up, bud.
Honestly hoping the new boss comes in and cleans house on this team and its leadership real quick. Because right now it's giving "rules for thee, not for me" and it's getting old, hey..

I laughed out loud seeing this post. This week I must have seen 20+ travellers not from Toronto come to VPC for an INC meeting. My people leader won’t let us travel due to budget and then to see this happen… what a joke!

@db seems like you are a part of the lavish dinner club. How do you actually sleep at night with looking the other way just to keep their seat at the table?

Must be a real skill. Just protect your own paycheque and your perks, and let the rest of us go to he-l. Real classy.

Best not to spend your time worrying about others. Sounds like the problem isn’t INC, but your own leadership. Hold them to account for making things better for your own team.

It was NEVER aboot the people. Not once! You bring in vendors, get them to cover for people who have zero skills and then reward it all with lavish dinners?

And let's be real, most of that's paid by the vendors themselves, so there is no track, no trail, nothing anyone can point to. Real convenient, well played leaders.

Don't we have a company policy for exactly this? We do. But who cares, right? Nobody's enforcing it, nobody's asking the hard questions.

JG is better at playing the game than some of the other EMT members. He’s got everyone convinced they can’t function without him. It’s not like CIO could figure it out how to replace him on his own.

Fair has nothing to do with it.

The "haves" will hoard as much as they possibly can, with no regard to us "have nots".

We are mere ants, to be casually crushed under their feet, without a second thought.
