Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Interviewing

Currently interviewing as an external hire. Does Humana dr-g test for THC? What if I have my medical mari--ana card?

I guess I have been very fortunate because I have never had a need for any pharmaceutical prescription, with the exception of some prep medicine for a procedure such as a colonoscopy. And I have never found a need to take any illegal dr-gs. I do not drink alcohol either and do not take any over counter assistance for sleep. I maybe once every six months may take some ibuprofen for the very rare headache or if I have been helping someone move and needed relief for sore muscles.

Not judging anyone here, just saying I guess I have been fortunate in that regards. I wish everyone good health.

When I was hired in 2022, I was dr-g tested but NOT for THC, for a corporate role. The test document in fact actively called out to not test for THC. They tested for pharmaceutical abuse. I take a scheduled medication and they required I have my doctor call the screener to provide proof of need.

@hp pot heads have great ideas and many great ideas have become reality at Humana you just don't realize it! Just because someone smokes pot doesn't mean they don't have great ideas or that they are not motivated. That is your ignorance on just how productive one can actually be. I'm not a pot smoker myself but know many ideas have come to fruition at humana by so called "potheads" . lol Ignorance is bliss!

Although, not a pot smoker, I could see how a pot head could flourish at Humana because they tend to favor laid back yes people over those who question the status quo out of a desire for improved quality outcomes that will help both the corporation and its members. Humana had no desire for conscientious, hard working doers, that have great ideas…especially if it makes the leaders worried that others might be wondering why the leaders did not think of that.

@c7 not true. There are please of people who smoke pot that work here and do a great job and have for years. These are not front line or clinical people . People can still function . It's better than prescribing addictive medication and there are medical uses that it is good for. Maybe educate yourself on the pros of it. Pot is not bad. People who do not educate themselves on the benefits are. Humana should open a dispensary next! Get ahead of the game!

Like others have said, they do test for it. More importantly, it's a super toxic environment, whatever you've been offered, it isn't worth it.
Those nasty comments, that is Humana's culture. Those people were probably nice at one time, but after years of an abusive work environment, they've turned bitter.

@d7 I agree. Sadly, Humana turns good people into animals.

Although, for the record I am not a pro-pot or any kind of dr-g person. But at the same time, I am not a pro-hateful person either.

What is wrong with all of you who are being so hateful? That person didn't come at you negatively! They just had a simple question.

All of these people are incorrect.

It totally depends on the role, compensation type and specific job responsibilities.

If it’s a corporate role / salaried then probably not. If it’s a clinical role or requires driving, then I would probably say yes.

But it is truly dependent on the actual title of the job.

No they don't allow the use of any substances and can do random checks if they are suspicious about it.

They do test for it and here’s the thing. Humana is an extremely conservative company. Even if TThey do test for it and here’s the thing. Humana is a extremely conservative company. Even if THC were legal throughout the United States, they would probably still test for it and prohibit anybody that uses from being hired.

@an

Because no one who "smokes dope" could possibly have it together enough to maintain a job at a dynamo like Humana?

Sounds like you need to adjust your own intake, that brain seems to be misfiring something fierce.
