Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Layers of dead weight

I can't help but wonder what most of the people in management positions actually do. They check in, they attend meetings, they send emails... What else? What do they actually produce? What value do they add? We have so many unnecessary layers that just slow things down and create more work for everyone else. It seems like we'd be so much more efficient with fewer managers.

I can't help but wonder what most of the IC's actually do.

Management is every bit as responsible for Cisco's failures as their ICs.

What do they actually produce?

Bugs. When I was there 75 cents of every development dollar went to bug "fixing."

Every damn year, another new process. How many ways can I possibly report on the status of my work? Nothing’s more irritating than nailing a project, only for some leader to immediately say, 'This time we’re doing things differently'.

Cisco managers are gaslighting specialists. Their main job requirement is to need a road map to find their a$$es when those itch.

Don’t believe me? Ask CP. “Change is the only constant,” , C. Patel, VP EMEA, CTO, Asian Tech Star etc.

Public Service Announcement: SENDING EMAILS IS NOT A REAL JOB.

@a9 do you mean /s?
What do they DO though?

I would get rid of every single manager. Every. Single. One. And only keep technical people that do something, anything but just "manage"

There has historically (say starting in 2011) been a lot of downtime and doing absolutely nothing. When you have that little to do, don't have to produce anything, are severely overpaid, just coast by simply just saying meaningless bullsh-t words "mitigate, capitulate, leverage, bottom line" AND are a narcissist and need ego boosts, a lot resort to affairs.

To say that these middle managers and account managers are not destroying families with their internal extra-marital liaisons is a lie. I know of a few who have, created a big HR issues and were actually promoted - I guess those promotions help them get more $$ to fight the blindsided spouse/kids who had no idea.

Most are incapable of fighting their way out of a wet paper bag, on their own.

Many would have done better as television news anchors, on the local station; regurgitating from a teleprompter, and occasionally telling a cheesy joke.

Instead, the landed here. Send me your slides, and I will incorporate them into the master deck, for my ongoing partnering throughout the organization.

In other words: Professional Bullsh-tters

They track every employee and tell them how poor a job they are doing, without contributing anything. They don’t attend customers meetings or understand the business. Layers need to shrink to 4 or 5 from current 12+. Fire middle layers leaders.

that’s called collaborating and strategizing, what more is required of them to do?
