I'm Anxious, Nervous , and basically dreading this meeting more than the others. Vegas in July is the 1st Red Flag. SO many new faces. New Managers, New Team members, etc... I'm just going to close my eyes and click my heels and hope to wake up in Kansas.

@11j are you stupid....or winding everyone up? This will be a very unpleasent meeting. The IPO is canceled...who knows if MH is a lame duck and leaving or pivoting to a "brand new shiny thing"? We are going to Vegas in July because no one other than McGraw (this was a failed IPO that actually happened and the stock is tanking) and its cheap...and apollo owns the hotel and can recycle more of Cengage cash into their coffers.. Wipe that frozen smile off your mug and face the brutal truth...the company is morally and fiscally in the dumper!
@11j actually vegas in july is cheap thats why its in july. save the raw raw nonsense for other newbes replacing long tenured people at half the price. the meeting will be ugly especilly after the IPO has gone south and everyone at the top has no plan B and no hope of a walkaway payoff
The meeting in Vegas will be great. I definitely dont agree with everything Cengage does, especially these days. But moving the meeting to the summer was because of the new sales leader wanting to have momentum going into the year vs having it in December then everyone taking off a few weeks for the holidays. Also it’s in Vegas because leadership made the decision to move to the summer in January and there are very few places that has 50+ conference rooms and not already booked 1+ years out. There was even another choice but due to construction that did not pan out. It’s really not that deep for this one.
Cengage no longer does the National meeting in December in Arizona or texas. They have moved it to Summer .... and we fly out there next week. We are staying at The Venetian because it is owned by the PE - Apollo. And it just so happens, Apollo who use to own McGraw until the sold to PE- Platinum Equity, McGraw will also be in Vegas holding their national meeting at the same time. Could they be plotting of sell to one another? Investment? The merger failed a few years ago, so maybe they are just going to see if Platinum will buy some of this failing company when they go public? There is something happening.... No way we are both in vegas the same days just by chance.
What is the Vegas meeting? Asking for an ex employee (me haha)
Two directors left last week alone. People are leaving one at a time. It's a mess everywhere.
I know more people who have departed the company in the past 3 years than current employees. Hopefully I can just smile and go unnoticed in Vegas.
