Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WARN Notices?

I was recently laid off and started digging into the WARN data. Something doesn't add up.

The national WARN boards show these layoffs concentrated in Iowa, yet I know for a fact there were layoffs this year in Chandler, Irving, and Charlotte—not even counting non-core sites.

Is the company required to report WARN notices accurately by location? If so, why does it look like the layoffs are being funneled into one market? That raises some serious questions about transparency and accountability.

They lay off the max they can without triggering WARN. The Big 4 are doing the same thing. It means wave after wave after wave of smaller layoffs. Very stressful and demeaning.

Here are some sobering statistics. According to the WARNTracker website, in 2026, WF has had 27 rounds of layoffs so far (up to 7/7).
On the low end of the range, at least 476 employees displaced so far and on the high end, 3440 employees…average of 1958 employees displaced in 2026 so far.

@OP there may have been layoffs in other locations but there are ways around it or to minimize actual impact. See ecfr

https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-20/chapter-V/part-639

For North Carolina, businesses that employ at least 100 workers, excluding part-time workers, are required to file a WARN notice if they are preparing to take one of the following actions:

Close a plant that affects at least 50 employees during any 30-day period. (This does not include workers who have worked less than six months during the last year or employees who work less than an average of 20 hours a week.)
Conduct a mass layoff of at least 500 employees, or a layoff impacting between 50-499 employees when that number represents at least one-third of the employer’s workforce.

I think the WARN notice is state specific. I’m not sure about a National WARN notice.
