Workplace Engagement

Why are we measuring workplace engagement with physical badge swipes? Is this how effective leaders measure employee engagement in 2026 when tech enables top talent to collaboration from anywhere? Policies like this make employees less engaged. What are we doing here? Who is signing off on these policies? Were there literally no better ideas?! We are going to become a case study: The Collapse of the Edward Jones Culture - How Not To Lead.

I’ve been told that my compliance with the engagement policy is below 50%. I do not care. I’m prepared to be fired over this RTO policy. They’ll replace me with someone off-shore that knows nothing about our industry or our company. This used to be a great place to work. Now it’s just a paycheck.

It has nothing to do with engagement. Using "engagement, collaboration, working better together, etc." is all spin from Suzie Mac (an evil, and complete mo--n, that has no business on ELT). They're just trying to put a nice wrapper/message on it (they think we're stupid).

It's about control, trying to reduce headcount, and in their dull minds "force efficiency, so we don't have to hire more to supplement those lazy remote workers!".

Since this "leadership" team doesn't have an original thought, they will follow the hear. When the Wall Street firms start offering remote again in a better job market to attract talent, the "leadership" will adjust and provide more spin about "One EJ, you matter, we listed, etc." - all completely fabricated of course.

Just do the bare minimum, collect your paychecks, and enjoy as much time away from this out of touch garbage can of a firm as you can until you find a greener pasture.

Our leadership knows that, if they can just get us into offices, a very high level of engagement will automatically happen. All disengagement is inherent with remote work status.

I got an engagement survey at my anniversary. Went through the questions and didn’t answer one. All hogwash. They don’t care. I deleted the email. Kept getting “reminder to take the survey” emails and deleted both of them. No thanks. You do give two sh--s anyway. I’m here to do my job. The least amount I can without being fired, for the pay I make, until I find a new job. Engagement can kiss my big a-s. :-*
