Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How are Performance Reviews going for everyone?

Whats new or different on your review and goals being stressed? Im assuming when mine comes it will be more hyperventilating about using AI and being pushed in thinking of new ways to use AI or commit to taking some type of AI training or certiications. Seems like this will all be used to eliminate anyone not 100% in on the AI cult mentality.

@j8 not a lie that’s what my manager told me. Maybe he is lying to me about no budget then.

You mo--ns think front line managers created the expectations?? Shows why you should be LRd. They also have expectations set from above, as well as the fact they RECEIVE the expectations from their leaders. It's up to them to provide the enforcement and metrics. If you are doing the same thing as last year people have went past you. That's a fact and it's on you, as is the LR notification. Next round will get a LOT more people that think they were safe. People deserving this will finally get it, like it or not.

@g0 slimey is expecting something for nothing. A huge number of people are arrogant when it comes to their skill levels. Technical leads that couldn’t lead their a-s out of a wet paper bag, “architects” that have one skill and no ability to communicate. They will get rid of another 4k people with ease and I bet do it again after Q1 of ‘27 with the same number getting hacked. Talk about flooding the job market with incompetence.

@g2 if they are executing to their plan than you are already too late. The union needed to be in place when they were formulating the plan.

Looks like C suite and Cisco lawyers planned this last year. They will execute the PIPs soon or may be already executing the plan !!

We all are getting scammed. Time for employee union !!

@d4 In hindsight, the mass promotions were an attempt to put the squeeze on CX delivery. With the updated grade was an expectation on higher performance and easier PIPs. It was actually a pretty slimy move, especially considering those who had previously worked very hard prior to that promotion cycle to earn their promotions.

I was told “you exceed expectations”, however there is no budget for bonus, promotion, nothing. The only hope is to get maybe some RSU in November. That’s all.

@b8 got a short memory there bud. only 2(?) years ago, liz in cx handed down a grade bump to EVERY G10 or G11 . for nothing. promotions are always possible if your leadership is d-mb enough.

Told I am exceeding expectations, but no budget for promotions. Buh bye.

Cisco has done dry promotions in the past so if you didn't get a promotion the issue wasn't the lack of money. Given how many Technical Leaders that never did more than 10 line bug fixes and Principal Engineers who weren't allowed to touch code because they couldn't even do that it's not like Cisco was afraid of title inflation.

Performance review and pay raise is all affected by profits. Profits means more outsourcing. Make goods cheaper and cut capital expense.

Another approach: Innovation is the best bet. Pay selected engineers high for top skill and pay low for normal skills.

Outsourcing and greed is common in Bay Area and USA.

80% of Top executives are under qualified and over compensated.

Asia is 75% cheaper for manufacturing due to low pay and heavy subsidies from government. Many of companies are government owned.

Hardware is designed here but manufactures in Asia. Executives and Wall Street are getting rich but common man is struggling with low pay.

USA government has decided to keep dollar high and Wall Street with huge profits.

There’s a change in last two years…. Bring manufacturing and jobs back. Only then a country can get rich and stay ahead. Keep dollar low but Wall Street with profits.

I was told that I had no actual skills and was too old for my grade. All true, honestly.

Cisco doesn’t give pay raises and promotions except for lowest grades and rarely. You heard this from a 22 years Cisco veteran. Now go back to work to keep your job. LR is a way of life…
