So Mr Exxon thinks they are the smartest person in the room; we have a country program that we think needs to lay off so many people and move to a new city uprooting everyone and their families. We think we are smart by holding them hostage for up to 2years when we may or may not decide to make them redundant (after we told them we would make them redundancy). Mr Exxon thinks he is so smart. And then everyone resigns and finds job elsewhere, institutional knowledge leaves the office and we are left with minimum collective competency and morale at an all time low. We have no other option now but to use the TCs and chaos will prevail.

@gv because the Canadian government has been in full opposition to national infrastructure build out for the past 10+ years, the existing operational assets here are very sheltered from competition and quite profitable. I understand we are a money printing machine which fuels Exxon investments elsewhere in the globe while attracting a pittance of investment in country, primarily sustaining capital and regulatory type projects.

Moving corporate and commercial jobs from Calgary to Edmonton makes zero sense, but the decision is made by people who don’t understand the market. Losing most of the staff, and now the newbies in Edmonton will have to travel on business to Calgary to meet with the rest of industry. Spending $ to build a new campus while taking a massive loss selling the existing Calgary one.
It’s equivalent to moving commercial and corporate jobs from Houston to Baton Rouge. Makes zero sense.

EM desires to become an investment firm with assets Operated by Others. All those assets in Guyana are operated by SBM and Modec, not by EM employees.
If you are not near retirement at EM, make plans to achieve retirement somewhere else.
