Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Question about prior reorgs

Does anyone have any insight on how they have handled previous reorgs? Do they assign you to a new role? Are you given options? Do you have to reapply? Is it simply this is your new position starting this date or you can leave?

Nothing was handed to me. I had to apply and interview internally. They didn’t seem too concerned about retaining people tbh. Not everyone on my team got reassigned and left the company. I was part of 2023 RIF.

I have been involved in a 'reorg' in the past. There were some people moved to be under Shared Services and they were okay. The rest of the people who were not moved eventually got laid off. It was very weird how it was done - same thing no choice. Everyone thought the opposite would happen. It seemed like they grouped the people who they were keeping and then from there, as positions opened, they were moved out of Shared Services to new positions they were able to post for after the reorg.

@OP I have been on 4 different Teams in 4 years. There's normally a Team meeting held & they tell everyone who is going where and what day it's effective. No discussion. No option.

@a4 someone I know was reorged today since new title, department and responsibilities start 8/01. Person was not advised on title or responsibilities only told what department and invited to meeting with new leaders to introduce. The new role seems somewhat comparable but the responsibilities may be different. I told that person at least you have a job and can breathe easy but it may also have been done to force them to fail in new role sooner rather than later and just quit

Thank you both. Fairly certain I’ll be impacted by the reorg and wasn’t sure what to expect.

When we went to shared services, my manager had a surprise last minute meeting with me to tell me that I was being moved to a different plan. I had no choice, other than to leave on my own if I didnt want to do it

Yes it is as simple as this is your new role take it or leave it and no need to apply. It’s either you get this or just part of a layoff so this can be a good or bad thing depending on the affected persons perspective. Sometimes it is simply done to make you uncomfortable enough to throw in the towel and quit and this saves them the trouble and money
