Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Deal did not go through

As per some speculations, FIS was bought out private equity firm. But deal did not go through as the current executive team asked for 500 million bonus payoff.
The board and buyer was willing to pay 200 million. Each Leadership team member would have received 10 to 25 million bonus, but they were adamant for at least 25 - 50 million each.

Finally the buyer took the deal off the table.

@gt agree. I dont think fis is being prepped for a sale of all at once and I dont think there is a buyer waiting in the wings until fis gets to a target number of employees

There just isnt that many buyers that could ingest the whole thing and you dont bump the dividend higher if you have a buyer lined up.

No one will buy all of FIS
The other core banking companies cant, the regulators wouldn't allow it. merger discussions wiith global payments went deep under Gary before they fell apart. It has too much debt already for PE to do a whole firm LBO
Visa or a banking coalition would only want payments or tsys (see fiserv rumors)
The only buyers could be for pieces

Everyone wants to be on the inside. Having witnessed recent events, is anyone really? We have seen some managers post with perspective that is illuminating. Was told recently by a manager that had been laid off, that while FIS gets lots of advice from it's consultants, the answer that they like the most is...layoffs.
