Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

More layoffs on 2/17/23

There were layoffs in Aug and Dec 2022 and now we're getting hit AGAIN on 2/17/23 and told there will yet another one June 2023! I heard technical titles will be hard hit. Has anyone heard of what other segments are slated for this round?

Please cue the banjo music.

You are just the type of T employee that Stankey wants to retain!

These people you are describing have a watermark until the next contract is up in April of 2026, so those people are reasonably safe until then.

Last post sounds like craft or at the very least, of you're management, you don't belong there! Craft is safe, I wouldn't worry too much if you're out in the field doing technical work. If you're an Outside plant technician doing fiber locates, I think I'd be worried that your job would be sold off to another company. A very likely scenario since it doesn't generate a revenue stream, just a cost structure the company has to allocate funds to for their annual budget.

Here we go again, layoff another batch, enough to keep the lights on for another month.

Not sarcasm, just fact! Techs are still being hired for the field, no joke, no sarcasm!

“ If you're working in the ATT Business Field Services segment of the company, you're pretty much safe! If I was working in that business unit, I wouldn't worry one iota because the business is growing. I know this because techs are being hired all over.”

This has to be sarcasm……

You can't be serious. Everywhere I look in this company employees are running scared, running for their lives. Is this the type of work environment you really want to be a part of? It didn't have to be this way, it's almost like Stankey intentionally destroyed at&t.

I'm guessing that the OP is new to T, because quarterly layoffs were something employees could use to set their calendars from 2015 - 2020.

So, Aug, Dec, Feb totally tracks. Now be prepared for the next announcement around May.
