Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I hate early layoff announcements

This is not the first time they did this. They announce layoffs well in advance and let us stress and worry for no good reason for weeks or months. As if they get some morbid pleasure out of torturing us (and it wouldn't surprise me one bit, to be honest). Having to go through the same thing once again is exhausting.

Why u people stay at ford. Let the new hires figure it out. Go find better it jobs in the industry or create your own opportunity. They are many jobs. Why u take mgt threatening your livelihood every quarter. New people will be buried in work they know nothing about with eager new management on their azzez. Know when to hold and know when to fold.

@okd+1l5VK213 The announcements were made by the LL6s to their teams. The where, when and how often, vary with each LL4's wishes. AFAIK, there is not one rule for all.

They want you to get bummed out, frustrated, and go away on your own. I am long gone, but worked for Ford Credit in Phoenix. in 2008 they told us our branch was closing ONE YEAR in advance hoping people would go away. Hard to come in daily with everyone bummed out and kind of not caring...

@OP. I believe the C suite is trying to scare people to leave by their own, and save some severance packages for their fat bonuses. BTW, it is working, but not like the managers planned. The deadwoods are still around , and the most knowledgeable employees are leaving.

For instance, the most knowledgeable guy in a team left by his own last year. This year, I just found out, the second most knowledgeable guy then, also left the company by his own. Good luck filling those shoes...

In my team, we lost our "backups" last year. IDK about the rest of my team, but I updated and posted my resume online. I am already getting calls and offers with similar salary , so it seems a matter of time before I leave too. My shoes are not that big to fill, but at this point, it is death by a thousand papercuts...
