Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum Global Advantage will take your job

As somebody mentioned in another thread, anybody whose job can be done by OGA should start looking for a new position. Getting as many cheap employees as possible is the end goal here. No matter how good you are, if they think you're too expensive, you'll be replaced without a second thought. These are facts, so make sure you're prepared for that eventuality.

I have access to everything as an OGA employee. What exactly do you guys think we do? Eat bananas in the jungle? This is a health insurance company that constantly outsources job to “cheaper” countries for lucrative tax breaks. This isn’t Fort Knox.

Offshore folks can definitely have access to PHI claim info. The only time they can’t is if a policy holder stipulates ‘onshore only’ and they pay a higher premium for that. Usually only policies that have union membership include that requirement. Nice that unions are working to keep jobs onshore, very few others are.

offshore people cant do jobs that require personal information of members so good try at scaring everyone. your jobs are safe

Good try yourself. I personally saw teams outsourced to India despite this very illegal concern being raised. Good luck proving it and going up against Optum's army of lawyers. They get away with anything they want because they have the money. Outsourcing to cheaper countries is part of Optum's DNA now under Witty.

If you're going to troll this board, you have to at least make some effort. No one here is that stupid.

I don’t see this as an idle threat. I have had people question me about what payer plans have requirements of being handled onshore vs. offshore. We are hiring 40 now people for our department. All OGA

Our department is feeling the weight of this. Our work is essentially gone and no one is saying anything.

There never has been any job security at Optum or UHG. Go find a job fast before you have to pay 730+ dollars a month for COBRA health insurance (and that's the employee only rate).

Change is having major layoffs to. So I guess the feeling of no job security is not only felt with Change employees but Optum too and it's really sad. Loyal and dedicated employees get layed off without any thought on how you perform..your production and the accuracy of it.
