Source: me and my cube mates leave at lunch or during a break in meetings and we are still shown as ‘in office’. Pretty ridiculous that we are all wasting our time driving in for this nonsense…no point in sitting in an empty building so I leave as quickly as possible and count my commute as part of my work hours.

If you get fired you don't get severance. When you log in your work PC, your job gets your IP address so they know where you are. Don't get mad if you get fired
Why can't y'all just return to office?? Kids are in school I bet you have no problem going to a gym, mall or movie theater. No wonder more jobs get shipped overseas. They don't cry about working in the office.... You do get paid tomorrow to work. Some employees have key stroke technology on the PC. They need to roll that out to everyone
Don't sweat it. Either AI or offshoring will soon take care of it for you.

Its so ridiculous that people ask for "clarification" on the rules. No, stupid stupid stupid. Once it's documented it's real. Before that its just an ambiguous request and not a directive. You can't claim ignorance or "but I was in the office, Joe saw me at the meeting!" while getting reprimanded for leaving after 3 hours when they defined 6 minimum because your d-mba$$ asked for clarification.
OP, this is the way.
The struggle is real. "Do i stick it out for the day or head home when i step out for coffee?" The earlier post nailed it for my group. My teammates are more likely to bail after morning attendance if their kids have stuff.
if you need to log your attendance in south clt B-tyne, come in the afternoon, lunchtime or later. parking wise, it's a royal mess in the morning presumably with every trying to look dutiful after dropping kids at school etc. But from 11ish onward, you're in luck as the trickle out becomes a steady stream.
Attendance and logistics for after-school activities at both private and public are remarkably good - because we're all already home!

Everyone needs to keep the noise down and do what it takes to “appear” that the edicts are being followed. Play the game but don’t advertise.
