Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Farley lied about Lightning batteries….

Ford Motor Co. said Friday that it is recalling 18 F-150 Lightning pickup trucks due to a battery cell manufacturing defect.

The recall follows a five-week production shutdown at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn where the electric truck is made. The automaker said Friday that production is slated to resume Monday as previously planned.

The company said in a statement that the manufacturing defect at supplier SK On's plant in Georgia occurred over a four-week span starting at the end of last year. Initially, the automaker said it believed the defect was not present in any Lightning units that had been delivered to customers or dealers, but it now has identified 18 such units that are affected.

https://www.batterypowertips.com/li-ion-batteries-part-4-separators-faq/

"Separator thicknesses range from 25.4μm to 12μm, depending on the chemical system, without compromising the cell properties. The separator must not be punctured by particles or structures pressing on its surface to prevent electrical shorting."

that little um = millionths of a meter for those who have not adopted the metric system yet

"Shutdown separators typically consist of polypropylene (PP)/polyethylene (PE) bilayer or PP/PE/PP trilayer structures."

now combine this with: https://ziploc.com/en/Sustainability-and-Safety

"Ziploc® brand containers are made from polypropylene."

so basically the only thing keeping these from starting on fire is little bits of super thin ziploc bag type material?

i sure hope those Model E boys know what they're doing...

This is a very serious issue .imagine if the fire had happened while the workers were building the truck or if it had damaged the 18 customers who paid a ransom to buy this garbage.Unfortunately our government is happy to brush aside issues and turn a blind eye towards f**d.Money works!!!

Ford is now on a watchlist of unethical companies. Farley is being doxxed on his lies. In addition to all the safety recalls, Ford is being investigated for an enormous amount of age discrimination and harassment. Model E is a scam, Doug Field is a fake. Stock is going under $8, Morgan Stanley rates it as junk. It's a mess, the upcoming TH will be more lies. Ford PR even paid off a NYT op-ed id--t to write how Ford will beat Tesla, laughable, the writer is getting terminated. Farley will be gone by summer and Field and his followers will soon be gone as well.

Model e is not a group of newly recruited experienced talent but a name change from team edison. Almost all are the same teams who have developed past ford hybrids and bevs. They also staffed up further with former ford ice. New model e products are using edrives speced prior to model e...no new product innovation...only change is names to model e from team edison

@xvm+1lAKr9vU the fact that the lightning is not a legit model e product is what gives it a fighting chance. these guys who think mechanical and electrical engineering is the same as software are gonna get a rude awakening

I don't know how you could pin this on Ford leadership when the battery supplier clearly had a quality error.

Lightning also isn't a legit Model e product as it was developed prior to Model e was created and the current leadership came to Ford.

Well in all honesty, I am not interested in ANY Ford vehicles over the past few years being parked in my garage or near my home.

This recall was only because we were “caught” with the battery issue and certainly not because we “care” about customers.

Shameful.

I would never put a Ford EV in my garage.
