Michelle Obama

Great optics. Lay folks off and then pay her to come talk about careers...

Who wanted to listen to MO before her husband became the president?

Who, other than people from Chicago, even knew who MO _was_ before her husband became the President? But, she was an attorney before becoming the FLOTUS and, as she said, she knew how to organize and run things so being a Senator's wife and FLOTUS were not especially hard challenges based on her life experience. And she's a great speaker. No run-on sentences or jumping from one thought to another before completing the first thought like some previous president I could name. The FLOTUS that came after didn't even complete more than a year of college education and became a model instead and had depended on her looks until she landed DT and could depend on his arrogance and money.

How many that down voted 2wjl+1lDFaR2N say yes to this question?

I voted down 2wjl+1lDFaR2N, but I said no to your question. But I would listen to MO speak anytime as long as it's free. Or her husband. But before you say I'm all lefty and blue, and I'd listen to all of them, I hated Bill more than I can express and was not a fan of Hilary, either. You couldn't pay me to go and listen to either Clinton, but both of them give better speeches than either Trump as long as you don't judge the topics based on politics and just rate their speaking style & presentation.

I don't understand why Cisco is paying big $'s to have these celebrities talk to us (Oprah and M Obama) when they're having layoffs.

why not bring Melania Trump too?

Maybe because she doesn't give speeches? Have you heard her talk at her husband's rallies the few times she's spoken? Be Best. That's the best she can come up with? Not even "Be the best." or "Be your best." Just "Be Best". That phrase is about as good as her English and for all of her talk about being against Internet bullying, she was married to a man who was the most famous bully on the Internet/Twitter.

I'd rather listen to former President Bush, former VP Pence, or Haley than listen to anyone named Trump.

OK, now that we've turned this thread into politics, let's see how long this comment, or even this thread remain on the site. I've tried to be as apolitical as I could, but @4ssh+1lDFaR2N has made this completely political.

Yes. The ELT should stop doing anything else and go on every financial show to bawl their eyes out like little babies. See what that does for the stock price and customer confidence and then ask which of you really doesn't care about the remaining employees having ongoing employment.

@1vgc+1lDFaR2N, I guess you're too new to Cisco to remember when Chambers hired Jerry Seinfeld to do a brief stand-up in SJC on CiscoTV for Cisco's 25th anniversary.

I'm sure we had an LR that year too. Except, we did the celebration and then did the LR instead of having the LR and then hiring the guest speaker.

I wonder who got pair more, Jerry Seinfeld or Michelle Obama? Probably Jerry just because he's a man.

Let me pose a rhetorical question. What is more likely?

A. Anybody at Cisco ELT actually cares about Michelle Obama’s opinion and is willing to pay her millions of dollars?

OR

B. Cisco is interested in former President Obama’s political influence and connections within the Democratic Party and the Biden administration, but can’t go to him directly as it would raise eyebrows so they hire the wife and pay the speaker fee (bribe) indirectly in the same way Burisma hired Hunter Biden for his deep amd extensive experience in the oil and gas industry?

And before you answer, let the thought stew in your head for a couple of minutes.

Cisco doesn’t even try to pretend to care about their employees. How else can you explain laying off employees and then immediately hiring Michelle Obama? What an insult to all those families that were impacted by the layoff. Does the ELT really think listening to MO helped one single Cisco employee or the corporation in general? Chuck Robbins needs to retire!

Get woke, Go to the bank... while all the middle class employees argue over social issues

Boston Consulting Group is rather talented at dividing & distracting Cisco employees. Great hire CR! $$$

So many things that Cisco organizes at the corporate-level are so d-mb. I’d much rather have that time and budget to actually getting better at my specific role.

@1bup+1lDFaR2N, and we had Oprah at the previous Illuminate event. And what about that event in Hawaii just a couple of months ago?

Cisco certainly doesn't care about optics. Otherwise Fran wouldn't be such a happy person with such a fake smile while she's talking about how badly the ELT feels about being forced to do LR's.
