Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I wonder how many people didn't sign the separation agreement?

We need a class action lawsuit ! There is plenty of evidence that we lied to investors about this layoff.

What does Cisco give such a great severance package if their lawyers are impossible to beat? Couldn't they just give everyone 2 weeks severance knowing that they have all of their bases covered?

@2joc+1lEJUv3M, your advice doesn't make any sense.

Cisco is the best in the world at doing layoffs! They have all legal items covered. They are the best in the world a fooling people they are the best place to work while screwing their employees. Don't be d-mb and sign it before it is too late!

You start off saying Cisco is the best in the world at doing layoffs and state that they have all legal items covered. And I agree, Cisco has it's own legal team, and legal reviews all the numbers to make sure they can defend their LR decisions or force employees into arbitration instead of suing because of the employment agreements we've signed.

You continue with saying Cisco is the best in the world at fooling people they are the best place to work while screwing their employees. I don't know how many people they're actually fooling, but Cisco has certainly figured out how to get named the best place to work while not taking care of its employees.

But why would you encourage people to not sign the agreement and take the big bag of money and run with it? What does an employee gain by not signing? The right to take Cisco to arbitration? Maybe to sue if there's enough concrete evidence to support some form of discrimination? It's hard to sue for discrimination when you: 1) Work in an "at will" state 2) sign an employment agreement that the job offer is "at will" and that both parties can terminate the employment agreement at any time for any, or no, reason 3) sign the same employment agreement that states you agree to go to arbitration instead of the courts.

Assuming you can overcome all that, do you think you're going to get much more money than what Cisco is already giving you after your lawyers take their cut than if you just sign the agreement and take the money? Once you've sued a company, it's a matter of public record and I keep hearing that companies won't hire you after that because they're afraid you'll try to sue them when they terminate you.

"They keep saying this LR is "limited" and will allow us to focus on XYZ business priorities, but each year the business priority is different and what was a priority last year is on the chopping block this year, so why was it a priority?"

Cisco can't say they are moving jobs to countries without labor laws... Or transitioning full-time jobs to contract work without benefits.

OP, Cisco has been lying to investors about every LR for years. What's different about this one?

They keep saying this LR is "limited" and will allow us to focus on XYZ business priorities, but each year the business priority is different and what was a priority last year is on the chopping block this year, so why was it a priority?
