Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Exxon drains my energy

Actually, my energy is drained by a huge number of unnecessary meetings. What percentage of your meetings do you think are totally unnecessary?

In TEC, almost 70% of the meetings are useless, most with no clear conclusion.

80%...and if you try to decline a meeting, you end up having to have a meeting to explain why you don't need to be in the original meeting

Looks like someone was not picked to join LCS and is jealous. Like it or not LCS is a viable business due to Biden taxpayer
money handouts. Ceraweek presentations were basically people asking for even more taxpayer money. This is what a certain political party and many hyping people who have been sold a lie (renewables can push the load that oil and gas push today) want.

Every minute I look at our toxic boss makes me nauseous. Struggling to hear her when she’s in her jeckyl mode. I hate useless meetings,

If the meetings aren't necessary don't go to them. Quit with the victim mentality.

Meetings are one of the reasons I decided to retire. I couldn't take another safety meeting about the same material that was repeated for the last 20 years.

It’s not so much a percentage of meetings that are useless, although those definitely exist. I more hate long meetings where I only care about two separate 5 minutes portions that are 45 minutes apart from each other. Meetings where I should only attend 5% of the slotted time are plentiful.

We should schedule a pre-meeting to ensure our goals are aligned. And a post-meeting to assign when we can schedule next pre-meeting

I gauge my respect for people based on their ability to determine which meetings are valuable and which are bogus. Managers get 2x multiplier if they can do the same.

1%. No joke.

I say 60%. Many of the meetings are time wasters where, at the end of the meeting, there is no clear outcome or decision. The meeting organizers are laughing all the way to the bank (they are gaming the system - "just pretend you are busy and everything will be fine").
