I walked by a dog in Michigan and it growled at me. My understanding is they it was in compliance with the warn act.
Companies get around warn act by paying people "severance" that on the backend is processed as just keeping them on payroll for the warn notice period, without access to company systems. Basically your warn notice countdown begins on the day of the layoff, you're told it's your last day of working, but you're still an employee until the warn criteria is met.
I think there is some fine print in the law that says if you are closing a facility and laying off more than X people and you employ more than Y people, then you have to report it. There is other language in there about extraordinary business conditions or something or other. My guess is that HR read the law, found a loophole and then figured they dont have to report.
I checked after 8/22, because the numbers seemed to merit reporting and I did not see a filing for Ford. The filing is supposed to be made in advance of the job action.
Sorry but somehow major employers don’t show up on that list. I checked it in 2019 with that round of layoff. Ford name didn’t show up… prove me wrong

If Ford puts the people on PEPs, then fires them, they don’t have to use the WARN act.
Are they any new Warn Act notices posted yet for Michigan based employees of Ford?
If so just wondering the counts and dates if known?
