I know so many Ford folks who claim they want to leave but they are waiting for severance. That's bullsh-t. Quit your job, waiting for a goodbye package is only prolonging the enviable and is not even a certainty! There's nothing quite like the feeling of being in complete control of your destiny and fully taking charge of your life. Plus, it's so, so satisfying to be the one to say "I quit" and leave your bosses in the dust.

The last few years before retirement I waited and coasted for a sweet deal. Glad I waited. Plant asked for volunteers and I raised my hand. Received full retirement plus 9 months salary. Put that money towards my retirement gift to myself… a new 2020 Corvette.
What the he-l? No, you just want others to leave in the hope by them leaving you’ll be saved. What a punter…
Not staying for severance only makes sense if you have under 15 years under your belt. Especially if you have 20 plus years in, why in the he-l would you leave 6 months salary and benefits on the table? Makes no financial sense to do that at all.
Furthermore, unless you are under 40 and have the right skill set and have worked on the right projects, you need to plan 4 to 6 months to find a job anyway….I know as I went through SSIP last year in a better job market,
I heard banks are hiring.
I completely agree. Why are they waiting on a golden parachute? Why don't Dougie and Jimmy boy just pack it in and forgo any severance and stock options. Just leave already.
It is bullsh-t that we will have to pay them to leave after all the damage they have inflicted.
Be in control of your path…if ppl want to wait then let them wait.
It isn't the American way. Compensation RULES
OP is right. if you are unhappy at Ford, move on.
- You shouldn't tell people what to do
- Your motivations are bleeding through. "If I can get enough people to quit, then they'll be less likely to lay me off!"
Putz.
If someone offers you 50, 70, 90k to go away, why would you go away for free?
