This is more of an FYI to anyone who has not received their med package to make selections...
I called to check on the status of my med options since i can receive retiree benefits and discovered the benefits center hadn't received the "file" update taking me from active to surplused/retired. Also discovered when contacting the benefits center it goes to a company in India now?/?
Long story short and 2 hrs on phone calls with 3 organizations, a ticket has to be created by the benefits center to have the employee re-coded. this takes 3 to 5 days. Once the re-coding completes, you will be notified to go online to make your selections...This is not what was guaranteed on the many emails and phone calls prior to the 2/17 event...

Good luck and document every call date time and who you talk to.
I retired in ‘22. Prior to retiring I had dozens of calls, texts and conversations to confirm retirement benefits. Three weeks after reti received a bill for $5K for two months premium. When I called to inquire about the obvious mistake all my conversations and call records had been conveniently purged and they had “no record” I ever confirmed benefits.
I once loved ATT and all the wonderful friends I made there. Now I know they are evil UnAmerican pos sc-m!
If the issue isn’t resolved in a timely manner, my suggestion is to escalate and insist to talk to a U.S. based HR manager and go up the chain of command. If that doesn’t work, get in touch with the “Office of the President”. It’s the group that handles all the C-suite issues and makes it happen, people jump when they get an “Executive complaint” call.
Anyone that’s been a customer facing outside core tech has dealt with these kind of tickets in their career. They have helped me in the past on issues I couldn’t get resolved thru the “proper channels”. They are very nice to deal with but insistent and will use the big stick when needed to resolve an issue.
It’s ridiculous and frustrating that someone many soon to be retired employees
I retired at the end of the year and wasn't able to make my elections until mid Feb...due by Feb 25. I was then billed 3 months of benefits.
follow up to my original post...
Just got off a call with HR and they have identified my issue and understand it has affected a percentage of recent surplused/retirees. They are in process of updating the various databases to resolve the issue. Should be done by mid next week...
Good luck dealing with the benefits center. Retired in '21 ...Opened a ticket over a month ago and the issue still isn't resolved! Every time I call I get someone new and when they can't "solve" the issue they just open a new ticket and the cycle continues!
