EMC / Dell Payroll Mistake

I was terminated on 2/10. EMC / Dell payroll mistakenly paid me for two weeks ending on 2/17. I received $2,910 net and they want me to pay $1000 more to cover benefits I did not receive. Then there is also my w2 (state and federal taxes) which may be screwed up for income the claim to have paid but I did not receive (once I pay it back). I plan to handle this with them. But has anyone else experienced this problem?

I had the same issue. What a fiasco.

It looks like things are working out on this. Just need to return the money and everything will be manually fixed. Thankss for the advice! As far as Cobra. We got what was promised i.e. 60 days. If you signed on to Cobra late the coverage is retroactive to February 11th . So this is very fair.

Once you returned the money did they clean up the tax and 401k errors

Same mistake here. I checked the numbers, and they were right. I was paid all the way up to my last day (2/10) and the extra check was wrong. I returned to them the net amount deposited in my account. If you’re not sure, call or email them to get explanations. In my case I figured out that they were right.

@1ovt+1lGcCBnu Wrong you aren't cheated out of any Cobra as it was retroactive on 2/11 at midnight regardless of when notify them you wanted Cobra.

No not automatic enrolled. You must engage to get cobra benefits. Then it takes 2 weeks to be visible to healthcare providors....Dell back dates the cobra to 2/11 so they cheat you almost a month of cobra. Classic Dell just like the dollar store cheap!

Doesn’t make sense they’d want you pay week benefits you didn’t receive. You were automatically enrolled in 2 months paid up Cobra effective 2/11.
