Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Let's talk about good news when we see it

Ford Stock is up almost 5% today. I understand bad news on this site, but let's also celebrate good news when it happens. Great time to buy Ford stock at a cheap price.

Ford stock is junk. Morgan Stanley memo exposed incompetent leadership, Farley obviously top of list, add job hopper Doug, recalls, Boston Consult list, all the age discrimination and se-ual harassment lawsuits, loss of market share and you have a company down the toilet. Bill is aware, start with terminate Farley. Good luck trying to recruit talent that knows how to engineer, design and assemble vehicles, Ford is on all the worst companies to work for watchlists.

Ford stock is going below $5. It will get there by the end of the year.

OP here. I’m not a troll. I get it. Emotions run high, and most of us are not happy how we’re being treated. I didn’t know JF sold ~80K shares. Perhaps he needs the money in case BF sends him packing!

I agree with @1opr. I hold F for short time frame. At the start of the pandemic, I bought F at ~5 and sold it as soon as it got to ~14. Yes, it went way up after that (thanks to EV hype!), but now it is back to where it will always be 12-16. 11 is a good buy, but only for short window.

@1iud. I understand and I’m sorry.

OP - many of the participants on this forum are people who lost their jobs due to Ford lay offs. It's a bit of a support group for venting.

I don't think anyone here really wants to celebrate Ford

@uqj
Yup, and in 1999 Ford stock was at $15.35+ USD
so your "March 2023 = 11.72 USD" looks really sad now!

I haven't owned Ford stock in 10 years. It is called diversification.

If Ford goes under and I'm on the street, I don't need all my savings to disappear with the stock crash. Econ 101

@OP. Certainly, we have very different opinions over what are good news. Let me see if I understood correctly... are you saying it is a great time to buy stock when it goes up? Doesn't that mean I am losing 5% today compared with yesterday or a week ago? Interestingly, all the stock market gurus agree with the mantra of buy low sell high. Maybe you were trying to say it is a great time to sell the stock, since it is probably the last time it goes up in a looong time, especially as it has been down 50% in a year.

Let me ask you a question, OP. Do you truly believe that the hogs on top would miss their chance of making millions of dollars? Since they are the top and they are the only ones that know how cooked are the books, seeing as they dump the Ford stock (Farley dumped 79,921 shares for around $1 million) would tell many others the "good" times are over at Ford stock.

OP during the ice storm probably said "well, the good news is my electric bill will be lower next month".
