Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

So……. 7k+ on 3/21? Nope. So 3/23? April?

This clearly wasn’t a “mass layoff.”
Sure doesn’t seem like it. Does that invalidate many of the sources who frequently post on this site?

Or, is it a case where that was actually the initial plan, and it’s been delayed due to the recent baking crisis? The Town Hall postponement (cancellation) May also point to that.

I realize there were some layoffs, and it appears the majority of those were within Tech, but it doesn’t appear it was a significant number today.

Tuesdays are the official displacement day in 2023. While everyone is looking for a “big layoff day” they are looking past the fact that its happening every week in small batches. The layoffs will probably continue through May or June. Remember, This is WF…where leadership doesn't believe in PACA and they like to drag things out and make it painful for the employees

How long do you mean by “several months”. 4 months? 6 months? More than that?"

4 months is a minimum if it's a simple case, you hit the deadlines to get the paperwork submitted in good order AND there isn't a queue in front of you (I.e. backlog of requests for entering the process. Typical is 5-6, and sometimes i have seen it take longer,

@hpi+1lL2uwE9 is correct. Layoffs are not automated and there is a lot of manual work involved. In some system roadmap sessions creating efficincies in the displacements process is often the top item. They want to do it faster but can't due to limited capacity.

I'm not in the know but I would bet that they intended to layoff more but ran into issues and had to scale back.

Well the original call was always for 3/23 (thursday) which aligned with some long term trends. Short Term it seems Tuesdays have taken precedent. But then there were smaller clusters of impressive cuts made the week before last which did not show up on this board sooooooooooooooo............

Your numbers are being provided by such a small number of people who actually post here. Who are likely trolls. You can’t determine if “mass” or not.

Displacement is an operational area - literally. There is a certain amount of capacity to process displacements, and the process is long - several months from start/initiation to when notifications actually occur.

So every month - and some months twice a month - you will see displacements scattered around the company depending on who got started into the process on time, several months prior.

Doubt it has anything to do with bank failures. Much much more likely that the displacement teams at HR buckled under the workload and they had to delay some terms--which itself causes a bunch more work. You'll get your layoffs, they're coming. The rescheduled date for the COO will tell all.

The ones on the "director calls" feeding info to this site would have also been on calls indicating they were delaying the layoffs. Yet, those "managers" have not said anything here.

So, which is it? Were you on those layoff calls? If so, you'd have info on it being delayed. If not, then your silence indicates you did not have credible info in the first place.

Maybe it’s a little about the banking headlines and a little about changing up the plan since it was disclosed/gossiped about all over. Wait, no, never-mind. That would require sr leaders to actually think, plan, adapt, course correct quickly and we all know they are incapable of doing that. Forgot where I worked for a sec.

My vote is no, all that matters is date and action. Number of people is relative.
