Thread regarding Ford layoffs

20k on the street in the next month!!!

So has anyone thought about what it’s going to look like around here by the end on next month? Potentially 10k fired from Ford and another 10k from GM!
Hokey monley it’s going to be a catastrophe of epic proportions to southeast Michigans economy.

@6wzi+1lLLSrY1 I am sorry you had to deal with those arrogant and entitled customers from GM and Ford. Now think about those employed at both companies that have to suffer those entitled and arrogant types EVERY DAY. Did you believe you were the only one suffering those?

There are still good people working in those companies, people that actually make things happen. Every day there are less of those, and more of the arrogant SOBs. I'd be very surprised if the next rounds of layoffs actually pick the arrogant and entitled types, instead of the doers.

I downvoted your comment because of your ill wishes. GM, and even more Ford, are sick companies that lost their way, with awful management and unattainable goals. However, not having those companies around would be worse for MI and the rest of the country. You are retired, but your descendants may not have enough customers, arrogant or not, to earn their bacon, with those companies gone.

Housing prices in MANY areas are overinflated! They need to come down.

Ok we know the big layoff is coming for both the motor company and Ford Credit, Management is way too quiet and having way too many long meetings. Computer downloads have started, you can tell. Just waiting for them to pull the plug.

If you look back to the 2000s you will see that flight of people let go who left the state never to return. In fact the state of Texas grew more in a 5 year period than the entire population of the state of Michigan. tok+1lLLSrY1 you forget SE Michigan is still a one industry town. any cuts has a domino effect on the local economy. Outside auto the only other major employer is health care which was built from the auto industry.
The new trend is to send salary work over across the borders. Mexico /India /Brazil / China.

I don't know about by next month, but Ford is moving towards having only enough salaried employees to fill the glass house eventually. All the jobs will be in Mexico, Brazil and China.

This is not a joke. This is the way forward. (sic) Good luck to us all.

Ford alone has 20,000 excess salary employees. Eliminating all LL3 and Ll5 would be a good start on fixing our problems. After firing Bill, Farley, Field and Victor, of course.
