Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Wanting to get to get Laid Off

Hello, I’m still working at Dell, but after the latest round of layoffs the environment here just gets worse and worse and they want more and more. I WANT to be laid off. I’m over it. Hearts not in it. Can I request it? I have a good relationship with my manager. Should I tell them, or maybe ask HR. I would like to help Dell by offering myself up to be laid off for the good of the company and their bottom line. How should I proceed?

Your manager has no influence in layoffs. Speak to your director but understand you more than likely will be pressed to resign. Dell has no patience for people not bought in and that is what you are saying. Resign and find another job.

You most like will not get the WFR payouts, but you could ask if a Voluntary Severance Incentives are in the near future.

Stop working. Talk back to your manager. Most managers at dell are id--ts and if they feel they don’t get respect they will let you go.

I think that’s called resigning or quitting.

If you want a check to quit, roll the dice on asking your manager to lay you off next time. But that’s pretty risky. Who knows when the next one will be?

I doubt most bosses would be terribly pleased to have you sit around wanting to to be nuked, just waiting for a package instead of quitting like a man.
