Resigning from a job can be a difficult decision, but it can also demonstrate courage and ambition. Sometimes, an individual may need to resign in order to pursue other opportunities, such as starting their own business or pursuing a new career path. This requires a certain amount of courage, as it involves taking a risk and stepping outside of one's comfort zone. Additionally, resigning from a job can demonstrate ambition, as it may signify a desire to grow and develop professionally, or to pursue a more fulfilling career path. By taking this step, an individual is showing that they are willing to take ownership of their career and make bold moves to achieve their goals. Overall, while resigning from a job is not always easy, it can be a powerful way to demonstrate courage and ambition in one's professional life.

Jobs are there. But having Cisco in resume is a liability. Good luck

I was fooled too.

You seriously need to look inside yourself and ask "why?"

Frequent layoffs have been a part of Cisco culture since 2001 (that's the past 22 years which is the time it takes to go from being born to being an Engineer 1 with a college degree) and when I was there no one at any level from the CEO down ever said we'd be employed forever. At least one of the people lying to you may be you.

I'm sorry for those that have to get a new job immediately, and do what you need to so you're standing on solid ground, but also learn that 40 year careers died 40 years ago when GE led us into the layoff revolution. Just like the jobs specific skills you need to keep updating, getting a new job is another skill you need to keep updating and well managed job jumps are among the best ways to not only maintain but advance your career.

Yes there's work out there, but harder as our competitors are cutting back too. What is more important is what Cisco did to us is beyond belief. What was said about the lies is so true. I was fooled too.
